Meet the Good Guys: The Kenshin Gumi (Page 2)

                Sagara Sanosuke
Sanosuke is a powerful fighter who met Kenshin in a restaurant one day as he was disposing of a bunch of rowdy customers. At the time Sano had been a gangster who went by the name "Zanza". He roamed the streets in search of worthy opponents and, sensing the strength inherent in Kenshin, challenged him to a battle. Kenshin eventually is forced into fighting Sano, and we all know what the outcome here is. Sano is strong, but Kenshin is out of his league. But, Sano realizes his mistake and sees the kindness in Kenshin's heart. As a result he joins the Kenshin Gumi (I know I'm going out of order here, but I like Sano better than Yahiko).
     Anyway, Sano is now a melee fighter. During his fight with Kenshin, Sano used a giant sword that pretty much only he was capable of wielding effectively. But Kenshin broke the sword, and the cool weapon is gone. Of course, its fun to see at least one good ol' street fighter in the series. Later on in the series Sano becomes very strong as he learns a new technique during the Kyoto Arc.

                Myojin Yahiko
Yahiko was first discovered by Kenshin who noticed his ability to steal. Yahiko was a pickpocket working for a group of gangsters known as Yakuza. But, Yahiko was a thief with heart, and Kenshin noticed that Yahiko returned what he stole to its rightful owners. Seeing this, Kenshin wanted to help Yahiko. He tries, with humourous results, but eventually Yahiko submits to Kenshin's will when he is told that he will be trained in kenjutsu. He just never expected to learn Kamiya Kasshin Ryu, he wanted to learn Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu! At the beginning of the series, Yahiko is pretty much the doormat that Kenshin always has to save. However, as he matures during the series, he starts to learn some "unique" techniques. The most "unique" of them all, is probably the nutcracker which he uses on several occasions! Aside from this dirty tactic, Yahiko actually learns to use his bamboo stick pretty well. During the Kyoto Arc, he actually defeats an opponent!!

                  Takani Megumi
Megumi is the doctor of the Kenshin Gumi. She first appears in about episode 6 or 7, at the beginning of the Aoshi mini-saga. Her first appearance is mysterious to the Kenshin Gumi. Just before Kenshin and Sano met her, Sano had just learned that one of his good friends had died from bad opium. I'll say this much: Megumi is the one that made the bad opium, and once Sano discovers this, he has to overcome his anger to save Megumi from some shady characters. Anyway, Megumi becomes good friends with Kenshin and Sano, and once she stops flirting with Kenshin, she's good friends with Kaoru too. Actually, it seems that Sano and Megumi are a couple, but its not official I don't think. Anyway, Megumi is good at the doctor stuff, so that's what she does. She doesn't fight much, although she does slap Kaoru at the beginning of the Kyoto Arc. Megumi is a strong-willed woman, having lived through the death of her parents and captivity at the hands of a dirty businessman.
