I am a *Catholic undergrad in *mathematics. I like Jethro Tull and the flutes. I like *computers and almost everything that has to do with it.
I like reading, but do not like very much novels in general. I'm for technical
books, reference books, manuals.
A few novels I read and I like are David
Copperfield, The
Idiot , Martin
Eden, Don
Quixote. And now I plan to read Erewhon
(also in http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Erewhon
and http://www.online-literature.com/samuel-butler/erewhon-revisited/).
My favourite soccer team (in Italy it is almost compulsory to specify it) is
the Sampdoria. Even if I am for the Sampdoria, I am anyway strongly against
two other soccer teams, the Juventus and the Milan.
I like also Lamborghini cars, see lamborghiniregistry.com. I watch all the MotoGP and Formula 1 GPs (hoping that Valentino Rossi and the Ferrari will win their championships soon again). Oh, and I am glad we won the Soccer World Cup in Germany...
My other interests include include psychology and *philosophy. I recently wrote and put on the Internet a page on psychoanalysis, at the address *http://it.geocities.com/povigna/freud.htm, whose title contains the same pun in both Italian and English, " Freud's frauds - le frodi di Freud".
As I said in the home page, "(I like puns). I admit it here. Stressing people with puns is one of my favourite social activities, just after staring at the floor." ;-)
I am proud to say I never used a rude word in all my life... nor I plan to use any.
I would never renounce my habit of watching every day the 19 PM serial on TV. I am now very learned about these serials, for over the years I’ve seen many:
1) Stargate SG-1
2) The Sentinel
3) Star Trek Voyager
4) Star Trek Enterprise
5) JAG avvocati in divisa
6) Streghe (Charmed)
7) Jarod il camaleonte (Jarod the Pretender)
8) Squadra Speciale Cobra 11
9) Squadra Speciale Cobra 11 – sezione 2
10) La signora in giallo (Murder, she wrote)
11) Lois & Clark – le nuove avventure di Superman
12) Il commissario Rex
13) Seven Days
Perhaps a bit too (c)rude.Un medico in famiglia
a. Roswell
b. NCIS
c. Popular
d. Smallville
e. Quantum leap
f. Law & Order
g. Supernatural
Now about cartoons. I do like these:
I collect comics, namely Topolino (the Italian weekly “Mickey Mouse”). I almost reached the objective of having a thousand of consecutive issues, all carefully read, put back in their original plastic bags and kept in an appositely self-made bookshelf.
The only problem for an English-speaker is to realize how to read the Italian "gn". It is read like the Spanish "ñ" (as in "El Niño"), so that a Spanish would spell it as Poviña.
This should help you with the Italian pronunciation of Povigna: po-vee-n'yah.
My name is Michele, that is the Italian for 'Michael'.
A person with my same name got a degree in Law in 1651: http://baruffi.ceva.infosys.it/StoriaLoc/storceva/storia/26.HTM .
This is quite meaningless, but I took this pic and would like to show it to you all. It is a placard I saw at the Brignole railway station in Genova (Genoa).
