Randy Ortons plans didn't fall into place this past Wednesday Night. At all. Instead, Orton was hospitalized at the hands of Chris Jericho and, to whom he referred to as "Giant Singh". In any event; Singh powerbombed Randy Orton off the top of the ramp and down to the tables and media equipment below. Complete devastation. Randy didn't move a muscle and was attended to by the EMT's in a mere matter of seconds. However - despite the incredible impact, Randy Orton will fight on Mayhem against Triple H in a Lumberjack Match, with Chris Jericho featuring as the Special Guest Referee.
Perhaps one positive was the announcement regarding the main event of the Pay Per View. It'll be Randy Orton, Chris Jericho and Raven battling it out for the Worlds Heavyweight Championship, leaving Edge and Triple H to clash heads in a Number One Contendership Match. No doubt about it; Orton's gonna be fighting for the gold come hell or high water, be that at 100% or 10%. It's an opportunity to re-capture glory. An opportunity to defy the odds and to stake claim as to being this industrys best.
Whilst that's an attractive headline, this Thursday Night's Mayhem against Triple H is drawing a lot of hype and a lot of attention. After all; Jericho & Singh came inches away to near on wiping Orton out of the business, and now, now he's the special guest in a Lumberjack Match? Fingers all point to Triple H, for the condition Orton must be in must'n be of a healthy nature. And lets face it: if you've got any hope of playin' the game and beating The Game, then you've gotta be performing to the best of your ability. Otherwise - you're gonna lose, and you're gonna lose big. What's stopping another Jericho/Singh attack? What's stopping Triple H aligning himself to completely destroy Randy Orton? Takes no rocket scientist to figure out the consequences that The Legend Killer may be facing, but at the same time, revenge could be the fuel to the gas tank. All will be revealed on Mayhem!
The cameras begin rolling where we left off last Thursday Night in Washington DC at the Hospital in which Randy Orton was sent to right after being brutally assaulted. First up we're shown a view from a distance - roughly fifty metres out. It's not the best of days. Grey sky filled with clouds. Hard to pick a spot of blue. Relatively cool, too. The scene switches to an office like surroundings, with a desk in between doctor and patient. In this case, the patient's Randy Orton who clearly is battered and bruised with parts of his face covered up, his neck in a brace and his lower back taped. Not to mention, he's got a set of crutches lying up against the desk. Sitting across from him is a doctor dressed in customary white clothing. Neither one of them have what you'd describe as an excited or satisfied expression, in particular Randy Orton, who is as cold faced as you've ever seen.
" THE PROSPECT " Randy Orton : No, you don't understand Doc. You don't understand what it felt like to be driven through tables and onto media equipment. You don't, you can't and you won't EVER understand what the business means. It runs through my veins, Doc, it's not a job. It's my life! I am NOT gonna lay down to be Jericho's bitch!
" DOCTOR " Larry Brookes : I can see where you're coming from, really, I can. But look at the statistics. Look at the facts, Randy. You've got more to lose then you've got to gain. Why risk yourself? Sure, you could go out there Thursday Night and compete. But you're running a very, very high risk. One wrong knock and you could kiss your hopes and dreams goodbye. Don't look short term, Randy. Please. Look up; anaylse what's more important.
Orton's frustration is evident.
Larry Brookes sighs, as the message is clearly not registering in Randy Orton's head. His mind's fixed upon one thing; getting revenge.
" THE PROSPECT " Randy Orton : Believe me. It's worth every step. I appreciate the advice Doc, but if it's the LAST thing I do I swear to god I will get my revenge. So long as I can breathe, I'm goin' after him. I'm well aware of the consequences. I'm aware of what might be. But I can't let him win, Doc. I can't let him take away my dreams. He made a mistake, and I must.. I will capitalise on it. He didn't finish me off. He beat me within an inch of my career, but he DIDN'T erase me from the Title picture. And that's all I need Doc. That window of opportunity. That's ALL I need to turn the tables.
" DOCTOR " Larry Brookes : I can't say I approve of the decision you're making Randy, but it is up to you. You'll have to be very, very careful with how you manage it though or else the next time you see me you could find yourself in a Wheel Chair. We don't want that.
Orton nods his head and struggles to get back up to his feet. He grabs the crutches, nods at The Doctor once again, and it's at that point the scene fades to black.
And we're back. This time, outside of the Hospital and in the car park. There's not too many vehicles nor men or women around, with Randy orton being the exception. He's got a bitter expression planted across his face. After all; what's so fun about not being able to walk, having to use crutches, and being battered and bruised?
He's right about that one.
Orton smirks for the first time in a long time.
Randy chuckles, but it fades almost instantly. He's still in a great deal of pain, obviously.
Time can only tell the tale of that one, eh?
Randy Orton doesn't take a second of his time to focus elsewhere. His eyes are fixed upon the camera only.
And up next: The Cerebral Assassin.
Still, his face is clouded by a cold expression. He's nto interested in fun and games, that's for certain.
........... Silence.
He aggressively spits onto the ground before him, signalling a sign of dis-respect and dis-like for Triple H. Soon after, our cameras fade to black. |
