Mark that down as three former professional wrestling legends in who have succumbed to The Franchise in recent weeks. Bret Hart; The Hitman - at one point, the best there was. Hurdles - big and small - he overcame. Throughout his professionalw restling career, Bret Hart was considered to be a specialist. The smarts. The moves. The looks. The fans. Heck, what didn't this guy have? But ya' know - he much like Shawn Michaels failed to realise that his days have passed us. His legacy may very well live on in our hearts forever, but the Bret Hart that once was is no more. Monday Night made it official. Monday Night cemented Shane Douglas as being one of the big fish .. as being a threat .. to that World Heavyweight Championship. One way or another, sooner or later, Douglas will be granted the opportunity most dream of. He cannot, and will not be denied of what rightfully belongs to him. In such a short period of time, The Franchise has proved the fact that his days are still filled with the bright sunshine. Interestingly enough, Shane Douglas has agreed to stand on the side of "The Heart Throbs" AND Bret Hart to face off against The Hurricane and Rosey, The Undertaker and The Rock at September's pay per view; Call 2 Arms. Although if such meant victory, one can only find it hard to believe that The Franchise would agree to stand alongside Bret Hart. Question's gotta' be asked; is he planning of completely running The Hitman out of the business? Only time will tell, but as for now, Douglas will take on Edge this coming Monday Night at Raw Attitude in a Singles Match. No doubt - it's drawing the eyes of thousands upon thousands across the globe. Edge; Intercontinental Champion. Shane Douglas; a veteran who's career is far from over. This one as good ol' J.R would say is gonna be a slobber knocker ... folks.
-[[ It's cold, it's dark, it's wet and there's a horrifying howling wind blowing from left to right. If you hadn't yet figured, it's conditions which are best suited to a night besides that lovely fire place. But for one Shane Douglas - that's not the scenario. The camera's pick up the scene in an alleyway. The usual surroundings are easily identified. Homeless Men, Women and Children. Abandoned Animals. Shopping trolleys. Incredible amounts of rubbish. Parts of old, rusted vehicles. Puddles of water with virtually every step taken. Oh, and di I mention the big steel fence at the end of it? You get the picture. It's not where one would want to find themselves during the day, let alone at night. Douglas - however - arms crossed, is standing a few meters out from the alleyway with a long, black coat. Not quite the look we're accustmed to, but nevertheless, Douglas' expression is cold. He's attention is focused solely on one thing, and one thing only; the camera. ]]- " THE FRANCHISE " Shane Douglas: " I told you so. " -[[ He pauses. ]]- " THE FRANCHISE " Shane Douglas: " Come's a time in every man's life where he must step down. Where he must lay his legacy behind him and allow the past to stay ... as the past. Bret Hart was hanging onto a string of hope. FALSE hope. I'd been telling you all week, but you denied it. You denied it in every which little way you possibly could. Until finally ... whether you wanted to believe it or not .. it became fact. It became reality. Your hero, your HITMAN - whatever the fuck he means to you .. He's over. He's finished. And it's all because of me. Don't ya' just hate that? " -[[ Douglas snickers. ]]- " THE FRANCHISE " Shane Douglas: " I've taken three icons you idiots have ADORED for a decade and I've made 'em my personal bitch. Three men you pinned your dreams around - I took 'em .. and I CRUSHED 'em! That make ya' hate me? Huh? That make ya' want to grab my neck, and squeeze it as tight as you possibly can? Ha-ha .. I bet it does .. but ya' know, Ladies, you're gon'a have to get used to it. 'Cause whether you like it or you don't, I'm your god. I'm your saviour. Sting's not the man that's gon'a lead this company into un-seen fields of success. I am. It's gon'a be. Shane Douglas. And ya' know the best part about that? There's nothin' and nobody that can stop me. The only way this thing ends is when I decide I've had enough. And lemme' tell ya' - that ain't gon'a be anytime soon. " -[[ Light rain drops begin to fall, but it's not nearly enough to force Douglas to find cover. He tilts his head towards the sky, closes his eyes and takes in a deep breath. The next thing you know, his eyes are staring a hole right through our camera. ]]- " THE FRANCHISE " Shane Douglas: " Make no mistake about it; the past week is one I'll reflect on with a smile, but I ain't gon'a spend anymore of my precious time on a dead-beat. See, this week, It's kinda like a shot at redemption. Two weeks ago, I fell short. But it wasn't the loss that pissed me off. It was the fact that it was against that creepy, talentless fucking Canadian bastard; Christian. But ya' know, this week - this Monday Night, I've gotta crack at his brother. Although Christian will feed you with the crap that he "hates" his brother 'till the cows come home, I don't buy it .. and neither should you. Let's face it; blood's thicker than water. Christian and Edge can pretend to have their differences, but at the end of the day, they were both pumped out by the same slut. What they've got happenin' between 'em - their little conflict? Heh, it's nothin' more than a soap opra. " -[[ The Franchise takes a quick glance over his shoulder. After all - you'd have to be on guard considering the whereabouts. ]]- " THE FRANCHISE " Shane Douglas: " Come to think of it, a soap opra is what you've based your whole career around. I'm not gonna beat you around the bush, because as I've said, I ain't got the time to piss away under the moonlight. " -[[ The intensity increases in Douglas' tone significantly. The camera zooms in. Business is about to pick up to quote a great man. ]]- " THE FRANCHISE " Shane Douglas: " Your first gimmick revolved around The Brood. Around Gangrel. More or less, it was a pathetic attempt to send shivers down spines. It didn't work. The goats blood, the clothes - none of it worked. It was a big fat failure, so you moved on as quick as you could. Next up; the Tag Team Title phase with Christian. Captured 'em seven times, huh? Fair effort .. but that's as far as you got. That's all you were worth to the business Edge. Some long haired idiot that provided entertainment with his goofy stunts and his never ending jokes. Didn't mind that stint for a while, did ya'? At least until you worked out the meaning of professional wrestling. You worked out that ya' don't wrestle to win the Tag Team Belts seven times, 'cause it means jack shit. If you wanna be somethin', you gotta' head for the big gold. Gotta' put the money where the mouth is, and after years of incredible stupidity, you eventually awoke to the realization of it. So, ya' moved on again. Christian went his way, and you went yours. " -[[ This time, Shane doesn't stand still. He takes a few steps back with a big grin plastered over his smug face. ]]- " THE FRANCHISE " Shane Douglas: " Even though you consolidated yourself as the 2001 King Of The Ring, nobody had belief. Nobody gave a shit what you said, and to be frank, they had reason. Look at you; you'd done nothing. You'd defeated Kurt Angle to be crowned as the King Of The Ring. Big deal chief. Means squat. And that pissed you off. So what happens? You drag out a long and boring feud with that bitch of yours. Christian. A battle which drew no fucking care whatsoever. For you, it became lost time - not that you'd of done anything with it anyway. " -[[ He winks to the camera. Cheap shot, but you've gotta' love them. It's vintage Franchise, and ya' ain't gonna get it any better then that. ]]- " THE FRANCHISE " Shane Douglas: " After you wrapped that all up, and after you'd run your race as being labelled "The Awesome One", you decided you'd take a crack at the big boys. For the first time, you decided to step up to the plate and track down what it is we all come to play for. The World's Heavyweight Championship. To cut the story short; you failed. In your seven or eight odd years of professional wrestling, you've still got jack SHIT to show. Oh, and how could I forget the little saga with that red headed whore? " -[[ Douglas shakes his head. He's amused at the sheer fact of how pathetic Edge really is. And you should be too. Edge is about as impressive as a six month year old baby attempting to speak. ]]- " THE FRANCHISE " Shane Douglas: " It's sad to say, but the truth is Edge, this whore is the highlight of your fucking career. Believe it or not; in twenty years time, IF people can remember you, it'll be for the affair you had with a fifty cent trash bag hoe. And ya' know - although it ain't exactly bright on your behalf, it's rather funny from where I'm standin'. I mean, honestly .. here you are. Edge. A countless number of years in the business. No major Championship Belts worth dreamin' about. BUT ... you were featured in an on-air affair. Ha-ha. Since then, you've made your claim to change. You've dropped the whore, you've dropped the previous moronic gimmicks and for what purpose? To build up .. yet another stupid soap opra scene .. and why? To draw attention. You've finally realized that after all these years, you haven't a hope in HELL of gettin' noticed via your wrestling. So instead, you've tried somethin' different. Somethin' nobody else has done. Up and 'till now, it hasn't worked. The Lita thing got you nothin' but a pair of over-used panties and a bad reputation. SO ... you've taken drastic actions. You've re-arranged yourself into a state of mind that labels you as being crazy .. in hope .. that you're noticed. Sad. It really, really is. You're like the kid in school who nobody cared about, thus leading to that same kid pulling off some ridiculous act to embarrass the school principal. And ALL .. for a minute, two max .. of glory. Ha-ha! " -[[ And that one hurts, I bet. Shane Douglas is grinning from ear to ear, as arrogant and as confident as you'll ever see him. His arms are opened wide - his laughing out aloud drawing the attention of the homeless. All of them, each and every last one, there heads are tilted upwards in admiration of some sort. Douglas is full aware, and he takes full advantage. ]]- " THE FRANCHISE " Shane Douglas: " Look over my shoulder Edge. Tell me, what do ya' see? " -[[ For a split second, the camera blurs out Shane Douglas in order to capture a fine sight of the homeless looking up. As quick as it came up, it fades, and we're back to where we started - a clear view of an intensified Douglas. ]]- " THE FRANCHISE " Shane Douglas: " I've always been a bankable athlete, Edge. I've never needed some briefcase to prove it. I've always turned heads, and I've always attracted the big events, the big belts, the big franchises and of course ... the women. Never have I had to steal someone else's bitch to make a name for myself. I've relied on one thing. My ability to get the job done inside that ring. You've either got it or you don't - there's no two ways about it kid. It's not somethin' you can be taught, Edge. You've gotta have the know how, and simply put - that's where you lack. Looks mean nothin' in this business. You can be 7 foot 5, 500 pounds, the ugliest piece of shit anyone's ever seen but still rake in the ladies. It all boils down to one thing - if you can do your job, and do it well. I've been perfectin' the art of wrestling for a number of years. I've had it all. I know what's required to be the best, because I've been there before. You haven't. And that's one reason alone why Raw Attitude spells a night in hell for ya', pal. 'Cause when it matters most .. I ain't gonna be on the receiving end of your pissy Spear. It's gonna be you, Edge, gettin' YOUR ass " -[[ And with that in the books, the scene fades to black. ]]- |
