More Info: Kayphé and her family moved from Greece to Japan a few years ago, when she adopted the name “Tsuchi” to fit in. One-fourth Japanese herself and good at picking up languages, Kayphé soon assimilated herself into the culture. However, as in Greece, she still has a hard time in school, and her eight siblings hardly help the situation. What Kayphé wants more than anything is to do something with herself and move beyond her small-town, gaijin status. This doesn’t seem likely to happen—that is, until Cho shows up…
Family:
The Spanos family consists of eleven—or is that twelve?—members, including:
Mom—No
one knows her real name; she is simply referred to as “Mom.” Born to a Greek
mother and a Japanese father, Mom grew up in Athens and lived there,
eventually marrying and starting a family. The family ultimately moved to
Japan because Kakiza (see below) had passed the entrance exam to Tokyo U.
Takephonos—Father
of the Spanos family, Takephonos tends to keep to himself. A full-blooded
Greek, he speaks very little Japanese and often forgets that the family is not
still living in Athens. Takephonos works shifts at two local banks and is
very rarely seen at home.
Mapké—The
eldest Spanos child, Mapké dropped out of high school in his junior year to
help out the family. He is always ordering his younger siblings around.
Kakiza—The
eldest Spanos daughter, Kakiza can be defined as the “perfect one.” Although
a year younger than Mapké, she skipped a grade and is now on her final year of
high school. When asking her children to baby-sit the younger kids, Mom often
overlooks Kakiza as a candidate because of her massive amounts of schoolwork.
Portokaza—Portokaza
is known as the “school slut” by her peers. A rebellious young woman of 16,
she has taken to teasing the younger boys in her school. Her siblings often
deny any relation to her.
Mahb—A
thirteen-year-old in the midst of adolescence, Mahb is a very confused young
man. As a young child, he was most often looked after by Portokaza, and as
they both grew up he got a different perspective on love. It is very possible
that he is gay, although doubtful that he knows the meaning of the word yet.
Praiza—The
adventurous one of the family, Praiza has often been called a “tomboy.” The
nine-year-old seems to fit in better than the rest of her brothers and
sisters.
Gakaza
& Kitrinos—These two are five-year-old twins who are just in kindergarten.
Kitrinos is constantly picking on his sister.
Mabza—Mabza
is a year-old baby whom Kayphé is always having to take care of. She doesn’t
do much…she’s a baby o.o;;

other universes, Tsuchi can be found attempting to climb plastic trees, writing
on balloons, and chasing around large groups of unruly children.
