| Will and Liz...A Story- Chapter 4 |
| Elizabeth froze, not sure what to do. Then she remembered what Joey did to Pacey on Dawson's Creek the night before and decided to do the same thing. She shoved Will away from her. "What the hell was that?" Elizabeth spluttered. "I help you get an A and you decide to mall me?". Will stood there, stunned. He didn't answer her. Elizabeth shoved him again. "Answer me!" she demanded. Will shrugged his shoulders. "It was an impulse" he stammered, nervously glancing everywhere but at her. "An impulse?" Elizabeth cried, shoving him again. "Next time, see if I'm interested before you mall me". Elizabeth looked around the room to see the entire football team looking at them. Elizabeth ran in the opposite direction towards the door. Todd bolted out after her. "Liz, Liz stop" Todd exclaimed, trying to grab her arm. Elizabeth stopped, but didn't turn around. Tears were streaming down her cheeks. She slowly turned around and without a word, Todd took her in his arms and let her cry. "I can't believe he did that" Elizabeth wept. "I wasn't leading him on". Todd nodded. He gently stroked her hair. "I know, Liz" Todd soothed. "Maybe he got the wrong idea". Elizabeth looked up at him. "No kidding" she said, slowly. Elizabeth fumbled for a tissue, Todd handed a clean hankerchief from his pocket. Elizabeth thanked him and dabbed at her eyes with the corner. "Liz, are you okay?" Todd asked, gently. Elizabeth nodded. "Yeah, I'll be okay" Elizabeth said, regaining composure. "I'm such a girl". Todd smiled. "A very beautiful girl" Todd added. Elizabeth looked up and smiled at him too. Todd brushed a stray hair from her face. They both leant closer and the next thing they knew, they were kissing. Elizabeth put her arms around Todd and pressed closer, responding to his kiss. They finally pulled apart, Elizabeth had her head resting on his shoulder. He hugged her tightly to him. "I missed you" she whispered. "I missed you too, Liz" Todd said, softly. Elizabeth hugged him tighter. Elizabeth pulled away, still staring at him, tenderly. Todd spoke first "Are you ready to go back inside?". "Yeah, I guess" Elizabeth said, awkwardly. Todd held out his hand to her. "Besides, you still owe me a dance" Todd added, smiling at her, warmly. Elizabeth laughed and took his hand in her own. "Then I guess we better go back in then" Elizabeth replied. Todd nodded and led her back inside. Will sat on the sofa, nursing a can of beer. He definitely needed it after he totally humiliated himself in front of everyone. Josh sat beside him. "Tough break, huh man?" Josh exclaimed, clapping him on the shoulder. "You don't say" Will said, sarcastically. "Dumped by not one but two Wakefields" Josh continued. "Thanks for reminding me" Will said, dryly. Josh laughed. "There's always a silver lining, look over there" Josh told him, gesturing to the two cute juniors standing in the corner. "What do you say we line up dates for tomorrow night?" Will nodded. "Okay, Let's do it" Will agreed. Josh and Will stood up and headed over to talk to them. Todd and Elizabeth re-entered the room hand in hand. Elizabeth's eyes fell on Will who was already chatting up a sophomore girl. "Oh well, I guess he got over that quick" Elizabeth thought as Todd led her to the dancefloor. They put their arms around each other and swayed gently to the slow song that was playing. Elizabeth tilted her head up and drowned in Todd's warm brown eyes. "So, did you want to go out tomorrow night?" Todd asked, softly. "That sounds great, Todd" Elizabeth accepted "Usual time?" she smiled teasingly. "Yeah, I'll pick you up at 7" Todd agreed, grinning too. Elizabeth pressed her lips to his, kissing him lingeringly. Todd deepened the kiss right on the dancefloor. Elizabeth was floating on air. The perfect couple reunited once more. Right there, Elizabeth was happy in Todd's arms and that was where she was going to stay. |
