Will Simmons jogged along the path in the quad of Sweet Valley University, keeping in shape for his first football practice for the new team the next day. Suddenly, he bumped into a blond woman with her arms full of books. The books fell to the ground with a bang.
"Oh my, I'm so sorry" Will gasped, kneeling down to grab the books from the ground.
"That's okay, I wasn't watching where I was going" she apologised, bending down to pick up the books too. Their eyes met, Will found himself staring into the eyes of Elizabeth Wakefield. They both stood up, laughing.
"It's great to see you, Liz" Will exclaimed, grinning warmly. "Even though I nearly tried to kill you". Elizabeth giggled.
"No, you didn't kill me, Will" Elizabeth replied, shaking her head. "What are you doing here?"
"I got a transfer from Michigan, on a scholarship, my father is sick and I needed to stay close to home" Will explained.
"What's the matter with your father?" Elizabeth asked, quietly.
"He had a stroke" Will said, looking at the concrete.
"I'm so sorry, Will,  I didn't mean to pry" Elizabeth told him.
"It's okay, I'll all right talking about it" Will answered. "But I would like to make it up for bumping into you by buying you dinner. I'd love to catch up with you".
"That sounds wonderful" Elizabeth accepted. Elizabeth reached for a piece of paper and wrote down her dorm residence for him.
"Okay, so I'll pick you up at 7?' Will asked, putting the piece of paper in his shorts pocket.
"Okay" Elizabeth added "Well I better get these books to the library, I'll see you later". Will nodded, smiling.
"Looking forward to it" Will responded. Elizabeth gave him a quick wave and walked off in the direction of the library. Will waved back, watching her walk towards the building. "She looks even more beautiful than she did in High school" he thought, silently.
Todd Wilkins was on a computer, looking up something for class on the web when he spotted Elizabeth coming through the entrance with a stack of books. He watched as she returned the books and then headed his way. Todd put his head down, pretending to look at something. The next thing he knew, Elizabeth was seated at the
blueberry Imac on his left.
"Hi Liz, what's up?" Todd asked, brightly.
"Oh, just checking my e-mail" Elizabeth replied, cheerfully.
"Oh, anything interesting?" Todd inquired, raising his eyebrows. Elizabeth saw that there was an e-mail from her friend in London, Daphne, something from the literary society she was with and one from Maria Slater.
"Not really" Elizabeth answered. "But you'll never guess who I ran into just now?"
"Who?" Todd asked, reading an e-mail from NBA.
"Will Simmons, it seems he got a transfer" Elizabeth exclaimed. She read an e-mail from Maria Slater, telling her the same thing.
"Wow, How is he? Has he changed at all?" Todd asked, curiously.
"He's good, he ran into me, helped me pick up my books. He's taller than I remembered" Elizabeth answered. Todd nodded and checked his e-mail. He had an e-mail from Will himself.
