| Chapter 3: Back to School The next day, Elizabeth went to her locker to see an envelope attached to a rose, taped on the front of her locker door. Elizabeth carefully removed it, opened her locker and placed the rose inside. She opened the envelope and read the note: Liz, Had a great time yesterday, would you like to go to the riot with me tonight? Let me know -Josh. Elizabeth thought about it for a second and decided that it would be fun to go. She saw Josh coming down the hall with two of his football buddies. Josh met her gaze with his own, breaking away from his friends and coming over to her. "I see you got my present" Josh observed. Elizabeth nodded. "I had a good time yesterday too. The riot sounds good, I'd love to go with you". Elizabeth told him. Josh's eyes lit up. "Great, I'll pick you up at 7" Josh added. "Okay, 7 it is" Elizabeth agreed. Josh glanced down at his watch. "Well, I'll see you later" Josh concluded. He brushed a light kiss on her cheek and continued down the hall towards homeroom. Maria Slater walked down the hall towards homeroom when she spotted Josh Radinsky pressing a kiss on Elizabeth's cheek. Maria went through the door and waited for Elizabeth to join her. Elizabeth came in a couple of minutes later and sat beside her. Maria scribbled on a piece of paper and passed it to her when the teacher wasn't looking. What's up with you and J.R? -M. Elizabeth read the note and quickly scribbled a reply. Nothing...yet. I'm going to the riot with him tonight. -E. Maria's eyes widened when she saw Elizabeth's response. She added her response. As in a date? Sounds like a date to me. -M. Elizabeth shook her head when she read Maria's response. Maybe it is, but he's a cool guy, why not date him? He's not the jerk I thought he was. -E. Maria sighed, reading the note. The bell rang before she could reply. Maria and Elizabeth walked down the hall towards the next class. "Josh is an arrogent jerk, Liz" Maria reminded her. "He boasts about everyone he scores with, look what he did to Jade Wu?" "I had a coffee with him yesterday and I saw another side, I'm giving it a chance" Elizabeth told her best friend "I'm moving on, starting to date again, seems harmless to me" "Okay, just be careful, okay?" Maria warned her. "I will, anyway, see you at the Oracle at lunch, okay?" Elizabeth said, nearing the writing classroom's doorway. "Sure, will do"Maria answered. Connor McDermott walked up to them. "Hi Liz, Maria" Connor said, formally. He entered the classroom without another word. "Later" Elizabeth said to Maria. Maria waved and headed down the hall. Elizabeth walked into class and went to sit with Will, who was also in this class. "Hey Liz, how are you?" Will asked, softly. "Fine and you?" Elizabeth asked, gently. "Feeling a lot better" Will answered in a hushed tone. The conversation ceased when Mr Quigley walked in and started the class. |
