| These Are My Friends | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Ben (the cool punky guy to the left) is one of those people who just doesn't realize how cool he is. I keep trying to tell him, but he refuses to believe me. He's punky and listens to cool music and dances a lot. He also likes hugs. I totally adore him. He has his own separate link. And he's smart! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Jessie was my bestest friend in the world. We haven't been in contact as much recently, but we've started emailing each other again. She's silly and funny and smart and her hair is a different color every time I see her. I've gone to lots of places with her, like Maine and Niagara Falls and Baltimore. She's fun to hang out with and she writes good poems. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Marya is pretty much my best friend. She is hilariously funny and always up for trying cool new stuff. She's smart and cute too. And we both hate stupid people and have lots of fun complaining to each other about them. We can always talk about whatever, and usually do. Plus she painted her car blue with silver stars on it, and decorated the inside. Personalized cars are very cool. Megan is one of my super cool Governor's School people. She is an excellent dancer and super smart and also an avid environmentalist (she made us all buy plastic cups at Eckerd and use them at every meal, rather than use the styrofoam the cafeteria provided). But that's cool. I'm all for saving the world and I'm glad she's a step ahead of the rest of us. Alan was another one of my excellent friends at Governor's School. He is very funny and easy to talk to and always says straightforward, amusing things. But don't ever get into a thumb war with him- he cheats. Juanita is another one of the many incredibly cool people I met at Governor's School. We spent lots of time hanging out and playing cards and talking about our boyfriends while we were together this summer. She lives in Winston-Salem, which is somewhat far away, but hopefully we'll manage to stay in touch because she is worth the effort. Pauline (one of four in my class at my French school) became one of my best friends in France. She was always very nice about correcting my French and we would hang out and laugh about all sorts of craziness together. She is adorable and practical and straightforward and generally wonderful, and I am going crazy being so far away from her. |

| Liz is one of the super cool people that I met at Governor's School this summer. She's really cute and huggable and also very smart (like most of my friends, apparently). She lives in Greensboro and I miss her very much. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I've known Mary since we were six and we've gone through a couple different periods of best-friendship, but now we're just plain friends, and it's fun. She's one of those people that just makes you want to do something wonderful. She has a really unique way of laughing and she's always doing something fun or different. I guess the word is inspiring. Other cool Governor's School people include Cory, who makes funny jokes and has cute white spots; Eric, who has a cool orange hat and always contributes something interesting to our conversations; Curtis, who is sensitive and funny and good to stalk, and loves turtles; Eileen, who is my fiancee; Elana, who is cute and smart and makes an excellent cheerleader; Meredith, who is beautiful and an excellent writer and also really sweet and sensitive or funny and silly, by turns; Fish, who is an excellent poet and student government president and was good about sharing his textbook with me and letting me write all over his notes when I was bored; Jacqueline, who was an excellent person to always have across the hall; Clara, who gets frustrated by close-minded Christians, which is why I decided I wanted to be her friend; and Brandon, who is sweet and huggable. Governor's School was incredible and I made some of the best friends a person could have, and I miss them all very much. |

| Laurence (a girl even though in this country it's more of a boy's name) was my other best friend in France. She and Pauline are very close so pretty much all year it was the three of us together. And it was wonderful. She was the first person to send me a letter snail mail style since I left France. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Nathan is another of my good friends. I know I have a picture of him on my computer somewhere, but I'm not quite sure where, so I'll have to get him to send me another. He is also very smart (you'll notice intelligence is a trend among my friends) and very funny and silly. We get along very well. And he has a goatee! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Andre was the other American at my French school, but he left in December (read: ditched me). We really bonded, though, since we were going through the same experience, and now that we are both in the same country again I expect to see him much more frequently. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The friend of mine that I've known the longest is Pascal. But we didn't really become friends until the year when I was 16. Our parents went to college together, except now he lives in France and I live in North Carolina. But we met when I was one and he was two. He is very smart and funny and I saw him a lot during the year that I spent in France. We got along really well and are very comfortable together. I miss him already. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Clement was one of the two guys that I had a crush on in France. He was always really really sweet and everyone teased us about liking each other. We never did hook up, though, which is too bad. I should write to him, though. Sandrine and Pauline (another one) came as a pair and were both wonderful. I always sat with Pauline on the bus and Sandrine comforted me as I went through the whole messy breakup thing in December. They are very very sweet. |

| These are my friends. Not all of them, but a good number of them. And if you're my friend and not on this page, I apologize! You're still just as much my friend. And if you really want to be here, tell me and maybe I'll add you. If you're lucky. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
