| Comments: | MosCow, 31st July Hi Bryan! How are you? My name is Al-ex-and-er VAG'ner. I'm composer-magician. The music is magic, that's why I'm a magician. I'd like to find certain rhythm-section' musicians, they should be from Europe and educated creators, not only players. Our languages might be: International(MUSIC), English poetry/texts, English, Russian. I'm going to visit Finland to spread my records for the self-value for my colleagues and the time will show. Fortunately or unfortunately in MosCow hasn't the official jazz clubs where any musicians might be playing not only for money and enjoy and thus..,/ there're comparisons, tandems, duos, trios and so on, not saying of... I'm troubling of the only question where can I sleep within my own sleeping bag?.. Al, cordially |

will be. I had the opportunity to meet Bryan in 2001 and he was the nicest
guy in the world. He was so kind to me as a fan and took the time to talk
sign an autograph and take a picture with me.I am forever grateful for
that. All the Northern Pikes treated me so kindly. I think that is the
reason they have such die hard fans - because we know they treat us right
and that we are appreciated. Keep up the great work Bryan and pass the message on to the rest of the guys. |

| Comments: | Hi Bryan , just wanted to say hi and that I'm looking forward to
picking up the new pikes cd. I,ve been a big fan of the band since I saw
you at the PNE in vancouver back in the mid 80's. I play in a band myself,
I'm a drummer, vocalist, I play in a classic rock band called Tyme Machine.
I'm a 49 year old rocker who can't give it up. I love it. Music is great,
a real release for what ails yah. Take care and I hope to see the Pikes in
vancouver soon, so long Terry Raible |

| Comments: | Bryan, I must admit, I had never heard of your or the Northern Pikes prior to last night. From what I've learned you guys are primarily a Canadian band so, there you go. I heard your song, "Heaven Is What You Leave Behind" in the movie Xchange with Stephen Baldwin and Kyle McLaughlin. I really liked the song and waited till the end of the credits to find out who it was. Anyway, just wanted to drop you a short note. Keep up the good work and best of luck in all your endeavors. Sincerely, Bryan |

| Comments: | I just realized in the excitement of your solo release, and that of
the Pikes, that 've never taken the opprotunity to thank you (and your
bandmates) for not only keeping thing going, but taking the chance of
getting back together and playing again for those who have waited. I'd say
it was worth the wait (and it was!); however I wish we didn't have to wait
at all. I hate seeing talent with so much promise for the future going
separate ways; in short, it was (is) great to see you back, solo or with
the band. I regret you weren't able to support your album here in Buffalo,
I would have enjoyed hearing many of the great song on HBT that weren't
played(understandably) on the Pikes tour. But, in short, I'd just like to
say that you have many listeners that eagerly await any musical
developements from you, and hope you remember we're out here; there may
not be as many of us as opposed to other bands, but as you said about
touring, it is definitely quality over quantity, and if we need to wait
longer, it will surely be worth it in the end. And might I add from the Pikes tour, that after speaking to you and the other Pikes members, that there can't be a more friendly, talented, and down-to-Earth group of guys out there. Thanks for the memories, new and old, and looking forward to all the rest. |

| Comments: | Hello; Wow, just reading your site is bringing back so many memories. I have been a fan of The Pikes for years but must admit that my favorite has always been Bryan. I will never forget sneeking into the Commodore in Vancouver hoping to get to talk to him and finding out from Meryl that he was going to be getting married in the next few months. I was shocked and it burst the bubble on my naive world. I'm glad to read that he's making music again and I can't wait to see the guys perform again. I will go now and peruse the rest of this site, Cheers,Lisa |

| Comments: | I don't know why I am writing right now as it is so late or rather early and I can not even manage to type, I am typing every word twice, my head aches I cannot sleep I am so sick. As I have been for three weeks. So why this sudden Idea to put myself through this to make some connection to someone I don't even know. I do truely love your music, however why do we need to make connections with certain people, especially where fans are concerned with the people they adore. You must have a lot of experience with this. Are you the man th same as your music? No ofcourse not. But you did create it. You the person who you are, yjust as any artist does. And that intimacy felt between the fan and the work, wellI guess that is seeing ourselves in your work. What with the sadness and fear going on in the North America right now and people cancelling films and not lisening to certain song right now, let us remember that art is not the same as entertainment. It is infact the time you need it most. Perhaps instead of cancelling the very violent film with Arnie we should ask ourselves instead why are we attracted to these type of films. I think we forget and neglect our spiritual side in our modern society. So much for progress. Thanks for the pieces of youself you have given, so I can in turn see pieces of myself, thank you |

unfortunately in a used record store. Well, fortunately for ME, because
I'm really glad to have picked up this great CD for half normal price, but
not for you since you won't get any money from the sale. Is there anything
I can do in that respect? Chris P.S. Oh yeah, when the Pikes tour next, PLEASE can you get a concert set up in Ottawa proper, instead of out in Wakefield? |

| Comments: | so I've never actually posted anything on a site before; fan, official
or otherwise. But my ongoing admiration for HBT finally prompted to say at
least -something- about it. I usually don't have a lot of spare room at the top of my 'Favourite CD's' list to randomly add the latest greatest trends. On any given day, I might say that either Grace (Jeff Buckley), Innervisions (Stevie Wonder), What's Going On? (Marvin Gaye) or Pet Sounds (Beach Boys) is my absolute favourite album. It has to take something pretty good to enter the competition with those four for top spot. I entertained the idea of adding a Big Star record to the list, but ultimately decided it would stay a secondary favourite. (I know, I know, I take this stuff seriously) So...after a year (wow, has it been out for a whole year already?) of loving HBT and constantly returning to it, I'm ready to say that my Favourite Albums list has 5 entries. One day I might love it for the thoughtful (and thought provoking) lyrics, and the next, it might be because of a new way I hear the arrangement while listening intently through headphones. And on another day, it might be because it's just fun to crank it up and listen loud. There is something to be said for a song that can paint an image with amazing subtlty (lyrically, vocally, musically...everything!)and not have to rely on obvious cliches in the lyrics or the same old tired and boring chords to grab your attention. There's even something more to be said about an entire full length album that successfully manages to do the same thing, song after song. At the beginning of this summer, with my brand spankin' new undergrad degree in hand, I uprooted myself from my safety zone in Southern Ontario to wander around the hotbed of activity that is on the other side of the big pond. I run into a lot of other internationals roaming around Europe, and inevitably the big musical debate will ensue. 'What stuff are you into?' they'll ask. Stevie Wonder, they've all heard of, of course. Marvin Gaye, who hasn't? Beach Boys a lot of them don't get...the more radio friendly tunes of Let's go Surfin' stick out in their heads more than the near perfection that is Pet Sounds. And Jeff Buckley-- a few of them have had the pleasure of being exposed to. But Bryan Potvin...that's always my surprise card. After all, how is a 22 year old kid from Australia, backpacking it across Europe, supposed to know who a guy from Saskatoon is?... 'I've got something you haven't heard before,' I'll tell them. And usually, more often than not, the other music buffs of the world will take a listen and agree that it's pretty good stuff...and they're usually even more impressed to hear that it's his first solo effort. It's my very own, well oiled promotional tour for Bryan Potvin: Introducing the other international 20-somethings of the world to heartbreakthrough. And now that my long and drawn out message(the length of this post, I figure, has made up for never posting anything before) has left you all wondering how neurotic I must be to not only so carefully draft a musical list but to also share the symantecs of it with a bunch of strangers, I'll try to redeem myself as 'normal' by disclaiming that I'm just a regular, backpackin' Canuck (yes, I have the flag sewn on the back of my knapsack) stuck in England in the middle of a depressing rainy spell just killing some time by sharing with other fans of HBT my immense love/appreciation/admiration for the finely tuned work of art that it is. Bryan Potvin certainly came into his own as both a songwriter and vocalist on this album. And for those of you who are curious, my favourites on the album are 'You'll Just Have to Wait' 'Heartbreakthough' and 'Darling, You Live in a Dream World' (Wow, that was actually pretty difficult to cut down to 3, it's so good as a complete album!) Cheers, hbt and (I'm sure) pike fans who frequent the board. Sorry for the rant! |

| Comments: | Hey Bryan hope things are well. I have been a fan of the pikes since
the beginning and was very happy to learn of their rebirth and of your
solo album. As a long time musican aspiring to be successful I always find
it diffucult understand when a successful band calls it quits. I would
kill for the opportunities that you have had. (please don't take that last
statement the wrong way) I know you guys had your reasons and though I may
not know what they are I respect your decisions. My primary function in
Antherium is as the drummer/lyricist/co-song writer. I would like to thank
you Jay and Meryl for providing me with inspiration over the years. The
music of Rush used to be my primary driving force as a drummer and song
writer. I used to find that most other music was to simple and not
involved enough for me. Being a student of the Neil Peart school of
drumming my writing style was very technical and involved. Then one day
while listening to Snow in June I realized that less can be more. (I'm not
saying your songs are less.) I am admiring the way in which the pikes take
simple melodies and make them into symphonic like songs. You guys are
killer musicians, singers and song writers. You know how to write from
your souls and create an emotional response in the hearts of your
listiners. Its it amazing. This is what I have learned from the pikes and
while I still make my drum parts challenging for me as a player I write
songs that cut to the heart of the melody. Don has also taught me that you
must give the song what it needs and not to over power it with complex
parts that probably only another drummer or musician would understand. I
love you guys and hope you keep on inspiring me forever. Antherium is
currently in the studio working on our first album and we hope it will be
done in the next year or so. We are doing this in our spare time but hope
it will turn into a career someday. Would love to get your opinion on the
music when its done! Mark Romanko Toronto Ont. |

| Comments: | Hi Bryan: WELL!!! Was I ever disappointed when Nancy told me that you guys played in Toronto on Aug.5. If I had known, Nancy and Darren would not have been able to go to Toronto without me. I'm not sure if she expected to see you there either. I sure hope you do get here in November or sometime soon. I told Jay that if you guys are playing within an hour of Ottawa you must come here and have supper or a mug-up with us before the concert. We are not the Ritz but I can put on a pretty good scoff. Check the Newfoundland Dictionary if you don't know what "Scoff" or "Mug-up" means. I'm sure it must be rough to have a personal life and be on the road also. It will be hard on all your fans if they don't get to see you once in a while. I wish all of you the best of luck and every success in whatever you decide to do with the rest of your lives. I must be off now. Keep up the good work and I will see you soon. Regards Diane Griffiths |

Come to find out recently that you are a friend of my first cousin, Donna Lidster....how exciting I was to learn of this. We just recently had a family reunion and met up with her in Nfld. after many years of not seeing one another. Keep the tunes coming and I'll be checking back to your site from time to time to find out where and when you may be playing, so I may finally be able to see you perform live for the first time. The best of luck for the future, Carol Ann Sampson Bear River, Nova Scotia |

| Comments: | Hey Bryan! Good to hear you're are staying together. After so many years of not being able to see you guys play live, the last couple of years have been like a gift. I've seen you play in quite a few different places and I've always had a great time (sometimes too good). I look forward to hearing new material from both your solo project and from the Pikes in the future. Hey, just remember Alberta is a fabulous place to celebrate New Year's!....OK it's a little cold but I'd love to see you guys play here. Take care...Tanis |

| Comments: | It must be extremely difficult for you to be away from your family. It
must be even tougher for a musician, trying to find that right work and
family balance. Actually, I almost hit the sad button there when I read
your first message. But that was for purely selfish, fan reasons, of
course. Luckily, I only go online about once a week and was able to read
your second message right away. Well, Bryan, for purely selfish fan reasons, none of us would ever want to say goodbye to you. But then I realized that for me, it would never come to that, cause I would surely run into you sitting at the next table in Toronto at Peter Pan’s or on Cavendish Beach with your family or something of the sort. The world is just too small! And, of course, performing! I am convinced that it was part of my destiny to love your music so it will always work out! You told me a long time ago, “you weren’t done yet”. I believe you are still running that course called life, just like we all are. Just keep going. Cause we all love you. See ya when you come down that 401 (east) this Fall. Honey |

| Comments: | Hey, Don't know if you remember me from the Dawson Creek or Grande Prairie shows, but thanks for being so up front with your fans regarding the mindset you're in right now. My sister told me about the first message so I jumped on the website as quick as my backyard construction project was finished for the evening (I'm building a deck). Your second message, needless to say, was a relief. But who the hell am I to demand your continued efforts in the Pikes? Bryan, you've been an inspiration to me musically and The Northern Pikes have been a huge part of my life... but that's exactly it: Life. And life goes on. My only fear is that i might not get a chance to see you live again. Please play Edmonton, it's only an eight hour drive. I'll try and make it down to Vancouver for the PNE but i'd have to fly and take time off work. It's great to hear that you won't be disappearing. hours in the car and 7 on the various ferries -- can you recommend any fun

This past year and a half has been an absolute thrill - having our favourite band back, a brand new studio album and a tour -- eight years ago, we never would have dreamed this would happen. Bryan, your music touches so many people - you write from your heart and your soul. I simply cannot imagine a world without Bryan Potvin compositions. | Comments: | Hey Bryan! I just read your message on the homepage. I am really happy for you that you found a niche for yourself where you can still write songs and be musical yet stay at home with your family. I can imagine how tough it can be to tour extensively and be away from those that love you and that you love. From a fan's point of view, I can say that we were all REALLY happy that you guys toured again after 7 years, and even if you don't tour again for another 7 years at least we now know that the possibility will always be there. Did that make sense? Basically what I mean is that you guys are all still friends and we can expect to see all of you again someday... Wow, I'm having a hard time articulating, but I think you know what I mean. Stay cool, the Pikes are the best!! Love, Kim Right? :) |

What ever you decide to do, I wish you all of the best, but I am not going to pretend that this doesn't bother me. I have been to many of your shows over the past year and you have been phenomenal every single time. I know the crowds vary from place to place and some people just aren't into it. But, there are those of us who do see and appreciate you for what you are.... an amazing guitarist, fabulous singer/songwriter, and a great performer!! Please do not forget us and how we feel about you and your music. Take care of your family and do what makes you happy, but please know that there are a lot of very disappointed people out here. We love you and will be waiting for you when you return. Sincerely yours Shawn! |

I had a wonderful time at the recent concerts in Canmore, Calgary and Swift Current and I am really happy I drove down from Edmonton to see the Northern Pikes again (including acting totally out of character by having my picture taken with the band and with Sue, Kim and Pam). Do what you feel is best for your happiness and your family's well-being. Thank you for all the great songs over the years (with more to come). Take care and best wishes, Diane from Edmonton. |

| Comments: | Ah, Bryan...I knew it couldn't last. Do you remember me saying at
Clyde's that I had a feeling I wouldn't see you all together again and you
just looked at me and didn't answer until I told you to lie to me if you
had to? (I will wait for that song, by the way) It has been a marvelous,
fantastic ride and I am grateful for it, (specially for the show in Dawson
Creek which was very special for my brother and I - thank you for that
memory). You will always have a special place in my heart. Gillian PS I'm still gonna play my drums to HBT and pretend it's a real concert and you're still touring. As long as I have an imagination, you'll be on the road! |

The first time that i saw the PIKES was when you guys did a show called "THRILL OF A LIFE TIME". You performed the songs SHE AIN'T PRETTY and KISS ME YOU FOOL.Since then i have always been a fan. All the best May all the good music be with you Phillip Scott P.S Pam and Sue were your fan club people |

out just fine. I know it isn't a goodbye, but don't get lost for too
long. Take care, be a good Baby. Yours truly, Melba. |

| Comments: | Hey Bryan - remember me? Saskatoon, circa 1981-82 at the Upper M.U.B.
and various other locations. You guys in Doris Daye and us in Curious
George (we opened for you a couple of times). We had something in common
even then - we both thought that XTC and all that other "new wave" stuff
was great. We both sucked on guitar back then - the only difference now is
I still suck and you don't. Anyway, I just wanted to drop a line to say way to go with continuing on with the musician's curse and trying to make it work in the Canadian music business (tougher than making the bigs in hockey), while I sold out after The Independents and picked a different career path altogether. You have persevered and have produced some excellent music with the Pikes. I haven't heard the new stuff yet. Best of luck with the album. If you are in Calgary in the future give me a shout and we'll get together. Jeff Boissonneault |

We've been keeping up with you through sites and Sue, hope to see you again sometime. |

| Comments: | Hi Bryan; I'm a Pikes fan from back as far as '86, which was about when we started hearing of you here in Ontario. I, like so many others, was diappointed when the Pikes disbanded, and was thrilled to hear you are back together again. I was also curious when I read in the paper that you had a solo CD. I (finally) picked it up yesterday, and I love it. It's playing right now for the 3rd time in 24 hours. A bit more personal than your work with the Pikes. Also, I think you show a lot more vocal range than I remember you showing with the Pikes. Congrats on a great solo effort! I'm hoping to hear of either Bryan or Pikes dates in the Peterborough area sometime soon. Cheers! |

I have always loved it, but now it reduces me to tears. It is a beautiful and mysterious story and I am so impressed at how insightful you are to word it the way you did. I am in awe! I have already told you how much I love Michigan, your haunting cries make me weak in the knees! Well, you now have my email address, I'd love to hear from you sweetie! Shawn! |

| Comments: | So, this is what it looks/sounds like. Very impressive. I have to say that I haven't heard any tracks down this way, but you may consider sending a CD to radio station CKUA in Edmonton. Not only do they broadcast across Alberta, but can be picked up online via the world wide net - and they would eat this stuff up. Maybe see you down this way during summer. Oh yes, included a pic of the Northern Pikes in my Panorama story. Let me know if you would like a copy for posterity ... if you actually read this. Is anyone out there? |

I have your CDs in my car and I play them every day going to and from work. I can't wait for all of you to come back to this area but my knee is probably thinking otherwise. I sure did murder it from dancing for two hours on Easter Sunday, but I just can't sit still when I hear that beautiful music. I hope you won't come here while we are in NS and NF on vacation in July. Do hope you enjoyed your visit down East. Keep up the great work and we will soo you soon, please God. | Comments: | Come back to Kelowna, please. I have lived in this area for 8 1/2 years and have only gone to two local concerts in that entire time; Sara McLachlan with Ginger (Whom I had seen as the Grapes of Wrath) and now The Pikes (and I saw you all 10 years ago). If you haven't figured it out, when I like something I am very dedicated. If you do a solo show I guarantee I would be there. (I find it extremely amusing to observe the behaviour of a fan who wants you :O) As for myself, you have been such a part of me, through the tears and laughter for half of my life. You feel like a friend who has the ability to express my own thoughts and feelings, for that I thank you. Good luck in the future and I do hope to see you here again soon. |

perspective of a heart and soul that needed to be mended. I have always enjoyed your music with the Pikes. This time around, many of the tunes with your own personal stamp struck a chord (no pun intended) with myself and I am sure with a number of other fans who have experienced some or all of the emotions that you portray so well. We all look forward to hearing more from you in the future. Good luck and success with your current tour. Best wishes from Montreal. |

| Comments: | Anyone live in the Toronto area? If so, call MIX99.9 and start requesting the new Pikes song, and some Potvin music! Fridays are requests days - ALL day long you can call up and request one of your fav songs, or a song you haven't heard in awhile. They WOULD NOT play any Potvin last Friday when I called and requested it. The phone number for MIX is 416-8700-MIX (416-870-0649). This is absolutely pathetic. They have a "new" Canadian artist, and they won't even play his stuff?! What's going to happen come Jan 30th when the Pikes new album is out???.... Will they not play any of the new Pikes stuff either?! Grrrrrrr............ Ok... I said my bit. Now go check out my Pikes site! (Needs some updating!) www.northernpikes.cjb.net Keep up the great work guys! |

| Comments: | Hello I run Bryan's site (he forced me to do it, honest!) Just thought I would let fans of Bryan and the Pikes know that Bryan was kind enough to let me and my wife into the studio to hear tracks from the new Pikes cd last October and we met all the guys and had a nice long chat with Bryan and Jay. I was very impressed that Jay owned a Sparks album (a cult band that I have loved for years) Back to the album...Since then I have heard the entire album many times and it is truly excellent from start to finish. If you by chance don't like it on first hearing PLAY IT AGAIN and AGAIN and you will. It gets better with every listen. All the guys sound great and Jay has never sung better (sucking up to Jay because he has a Sparks album...) My favorite songs keep changing all the time and at the moment "Beautiful Music" (which I honestly didn't care for on first listen) is my favorite. The Pikes are back, folks!!! |

But I understand, that's showbusiness and I am glad the last tour was such a success. On another note briefly Bryan,I have a young man I want you to meet sometime. Seriously, it is like when I saw you guys for the first time in Banff all those years ago! I knew what I was looking at. Perhaps there is a young talent that could be harnessed here (almost prodigeous). I am curious about the air play for your current stuff? I have listened to the sound bytes and they are great, but I have not heard anything (or missed it) on-air here yet? Should I get on someones case or what?? I have connections ya know :) Typical Island!! Always a bit slow to respond. If there is anything I can do for you let me know, and if you get time, I have all kinds of opportunities to do fun stuff when you arrive. Take Care and good luck buddy! Greg. |

| Comments: | Hey there! I was a fan before this - but when I was 15, I saw the Pikes in concert in Timmins, Ontario....(1990). Just heard tonite from a friend in Toronto (Mix 99.9) - that Bryan played Beachfest...so I had to check out the site!! I love the fact that Bryan is making a go of this solo thing - Canadian music fans have known for years what a great singer/songwriter and musician he is - and it's great to see him back out on the scene. If the first single is any indication of the rest of the album - I can wait to get my paws on one....!!!! You gotta come to Montreal, Bryan! There are lots of folks eager to see you out here. Take care! And best |

| Comments: | Hi Bry, I saw you in Victoria with the pikes in Victoria, I was amused by your comments about hangin out at the K-mart when you used to live there. Your new cd is a true accomplishment, you have much to be proud of. And now for a totally shallow question, How did you feel when you cut off all of that beautiful hair? I was personally jealous of all those locks myself. All the best. ciao |

And, you were a trouper at HOPE! Thanks for making our wait in the rain worth it! Hi to the other Pikes, too! Smiles, Sherri |
