Frankie Racis was born in Shenandoah, Penna. and attended parochial schools. Frank played semi-pro regional and attracted wide attention. He was selected as a regular guard by the Pottsville Maroons, played every game, and was consid- ered by many as the outstanding guard of pro football. He was held in high esteem by men such as Ernie Nevers, Red Grange, and all of our opponents. Offers were cont- inuously made for his services from other clubs but Frank chose to stay with his buddies, the Pottsville Maroons. Due to ingenious shifts involving the movement of an end into the backfield and a back into the other side of the unbalanced line, Racis sometimes suddenly became an end and therefore an eligible receiver of forward passes. Frank was often listed from various colleges at the request of various alumni. He was well liked and his meekness in private was defintely a contrast to his playing attitude. Frank was married and managed a tavern in Phiadelphia, Pa. |
