WALTER  FRENCH

Walter attended Rutgers University during 1918 and
1919, then to West Point from where he graduated in 1921.
He was named to Walter Camp's 1921 Third All-America
Team.  During his tenure with the Pottsville club, Walter
French was considered the most elusive runner in the
league.  His swiveling tactics on end runs would leave
defending tacklers mesmerized.  He often ran backwards
before starting his wending ways.
After leaving the Maroons he coached the Atlantic City
Pros, and later moved to San Francisco.
