ONGOINGS OF THE MAROONS CAUSE
I must first say that I am pleasantly suprised by the tremendous amount of new support by people who are still enraged by such a great injstice, despite the archaic nature of the event. By mid-December, about 3-6 MILLION new people will be knowing of this tragedy thanks to four major publications (all newspapers from around the country) who are doing this detailed story. Most of these newspapers carry well over one million daily readers, and there's no telling how many other newspapers and publications of the sort will acknowledge this event. This is only the beginning of some great and valuable things yet to come for the furthering of the Maroons' cause. With the help of you, reviewing the case may be quite a probability, not possibility, in the very near future. Some people e-mail me asking how they can help. Right now I'm just telling them to simply spread the word. Whether its telling your local paper or just telling a friend or neighbor- the more people that understand the story the better. Alduous Huxley once said "Facts do not cease to exist because they are ignored." Likewise, we cannot expect to further this cause without the help of people like you who take the time to visit this site, and at least for a moment acknowledge a 75-yrs old injustice that has taken place and remains true, sadly enough, to this day. How appropriate that after seventy-five years Jim Thorpe should finally have his specific circumstance corrected and receive what was rightfully his, as this is the Maroons 75th Anniversary of that fateful season (in which they won the title only to lose it on a charge of "territorial infringement" even though Chicago contained both the Cardinals and Bears) that those who are outraged by this tragedy should finally seek out justice for the Pottsville Maroons. And finally, they're being acknowledged by new generations who will carry this story with them the rest of their lives. Contrary to what the NFL may believe now, the Maroons cause will not die out- it will continue and we will persevere to what is rightfully the Pottsville Maroons'. The NFL can only ignore the Maroons' story as of now, not deny it. But, with the help of you- the NFL will finally be forced to no longer ignore this but to accept it and act upon it. I'll keep you informed about what is to come.
ONGOINGS UPDATE /12.2.2000/- The Denver Post of Colorado will be coming out with an article about the Pottsville Maroons' dillema of 1925 tomorrow! A special thanks to the Denver Post for doing the story in the first place, and I'm looking forward to reading it!
ONGOINGS UPDATE /12.9.2000/- Click on the link at the bottom of the "Updates" page to read the Denver Post article at the newspaper's website. One more thing to add, I'd like to thank Jim for giving me the link to the Denver Post's story on the Maroons. Also,a special thanks to Larry Koch who not only added this site into the blink.com directory and put a link up from his site to here- but also for writing and researching many of the Player Profiles you read right here. You can view Mr. Larry Koch's site by going to the "Links" page where his site is now listed. Hopefully, I'll have the "Links" and "Photo Gallery" up soon enough- as it's taken a fair amount of time to get it finished (or started for that matter). The Maroons' store has also not been in operation because I've been attempting to actually set up a store with the help of software from Xoom.com, however it seems that not nearly enough people are interested in the merchandise. Therefore, it wouldn't be worth it- granted, the Maroons' Store will stay up. So, I'd applied for a Safe Trader I.D., and a month later- I got it. The Maroons' Store will be open within the week, and I greatly apologize for the lengthy amount of time it has taken me to do this. The Safe Trader I.D. acts as kind of a safety precaution for those who have bit of a reluctance to purchase anything that doesn't have an on-line "shopping cart" or what not.
