| PLAYERS TAKE OVER MAROONS |
| Four members of the Pottsville Maroons have taken over the team. Papers transferring the team and the franchise in the National Professional Football League were signed Monday night, and the team is now the property of four of its members, who still continue to operate it. Dr. J.G. Striegal, whom it was announced would take over the team, has stepped down, and has nothing to do financially with the club. He will continue as manager, but all finances will be handled by the new owner. The names of the players who have purchased the club have not been made public, but will likely be so in a few days, or as soon as certain deals can be worked out. It is understood that Stewart Seltzer will be retained as business manager of the club. Papers transferring the club to the players were signed by Dr. Striegal, as president, and Andrew Bubser, as secretary of the board of directors of the Pottsville Football Association. The price paid the association for the club, and franchise is not known, but it has been officially announced that it exceeds $1500. The price paid for the franchise was $500 and $100 has been put up as a forfet with the league. According to the esales agreement all season tickets which have been paid for will be honored by the new owners. The price of admission, and the time of starting will remain the same. The new owners commenced work Tuesday in preparation for the next game, which will be with the Dayton Triangles. It has been announced that the new owners will appreciate any contributions, and they may be left at the Scheider DrugStore at Centre and Race Sts. The list of contributors to the last fund of $5000 has been turned over to the new owners, and they will personally see each one before accepting their contributions. |
