MAROONS  START  PRACTICE  WEDNESDAY

Preparations for annexing the world's football title out at Chicago
December 6, were commenced  Wednesday afternoon, when Coach
Dich Rauch took the Pottsville Maroons out for their first practice
since the Frankford game.
The Maroon squad is in fairly good shape following the Frankford
encounter.  With the exception of Millman and Fungy Lebengood, it is
stated that every other member of the squad will make the trip to the
Windy City.  The schedule now calls for the Maroons to entrain over
the Reading at two o' clock, Friday afternoon, and they will arrive in
Chicago at about nine o' clock, Saturday morning.  They propose having
a little workout Saturday after noon followed by a blackboard talk in
the evening.
Dr. Striegal stated Wednesday that Lebengood's shoulder would not
permit him to make the trip, and that it was not thought that Millman's
broken rib would be sufficiently healed to allow him to make the trip.
It is doubtful if Lebengood will wear a uniform again this season, but it
is thought that Millman will be well enough to go in against the Four
Horsemen at Philadelphia on December 12.
Mahrt, the Dayton Triangle halfback who made a fine showing here
against Cleveland, joined the team again at practice, Wednesday afternoon,
and he will no remain with the Maroons until the end of the season, the
Triangle schedule having been completed.  Ben Roderick will not be found
on the Maroons.  He failed to report for practice when told, and Striegal
has let him go.
Coach Rauch excused the Maroons from practice Tuesday so as to
give them a longer rest after their hard game with the Jackets.  They will
practice only twice at home, and the fans wishing to take a last farewell
look at the Maroons will tread on the home turf this season.
Latone and Wentz will be physically fit for the championship game,
stated Striegal, Wednesday.  It was feared that Toney's elbow, and
Wentz's wrist had been broken, but X-ray pictures take by Dr. Hoeffer
showed no bones to be broken, but that both line crushers had suffered
sever strains.  It is believed their injuries will be healed in time to go
against the Cardinals.
