Gridiron fans are going to see about as good a battle as ever staged in these parts this Sunday afternoon when Herb Stein and Larry Conover oppose each other when Cleveland Indians and Pottsville Maroons clash at Minersville Park. The game itself is going to be lost in the battle these two young men are going to put up. Larry is still a favorite with the fans in these parts and he deserves it because he played a whale of a game with the Maroons and gave us the best he had. There is a little-feeling between Stein and Conover. They come by this naturally as Stein is a Pitt man and Conover is a product of State. Stein is welcoming the oppurtunity of playing opposite Larry, and he intends using it to show the home fans that he is better than their idol of last year. To do this, Herb will have to play the brand of ball he did that made him the All-American that he is. There is one thing certain and that is that the playing at the center of the line is not going to be any pink tea outfit. |
