Life for the Potters was a wonderful thing, Harry growing up a happy child with two parents who loved him dearly. However, this happy world would come crashing down upon them the day that dark wizard Lord Voldemort showed up at their door, reason unknown. James Potter was immediately murdered, and Lily, in an attempt to save her son's life, sacrificed her own for him. The Lord then turned to Harry, small Harry, in his crib. He attempted to cast the spell, Avada Kadavra (a spell that kills the target instantly), but found that Harry was not killed. Instead, the spell backfired, draining Voldemort of his powers, leaving him weak and useless.
     It was Sirius Black who would come to the home of the Potters and find only young Harry alive, in his crib, a marking of a lightningbolt cut into his forehead above his right eyebrow. Promptly, Sirius took Harry out of the house to his motorcycle. From here he saw a large figure emerge from the shadows and approach him. A very emotional Rubeus Hagrid stared down at baby Harry as he took him into his arms, instructed by Sirius to take the motorcycle and Harry to some place safe. Hagrid obliged.
     Sirius was later captured for the murder of Lily and James Potter - The Ministry of Magic thought that Sirius had betrayed the Potters, leading Voldemort to their home.
     That evening, Harry was taken to the home of his only kin, the Dursleys. He was found on the doorstep the next morning, and the couple (along with their son, the same age as Harry) reluctantly took the baby in. Harry was from then raised in a household that did not want him; their own fear of magic and paranormalities forced into their minds the belief that small Harry was evil, and would grow up to be a rotten, manipulative person. He was given a tiny living space, a cupboard beneath the stairs, and was ritualistically tortured by the Dursley's son, Dudley, as well as made to cook and clean daily. He was given nothing but hand-me-down clothing from Dudley, which poorly fit Harry's tiny frame.
     As Harry's eleventh birthday approached, it came time that the Dursleys begin to search for a good school for their son, and whichever school for their disliked nephew. Dudley was accepted to a prestigious British school, Harry left to attend a public school.
     After a long, arduous struggle with this family who never wanted him, Harry, on his eleventh birthday, learned that he was a wizard, and had been accepted to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. While attending this school his personality bloomed - a young boy, mischievous and intelligent, stubborn and headstrong, vulnerable and yet undefeatable. His charisma for magic and zest for life can only be matched by those of his two best friends: Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley.
