Chapter 7~ The Welcoming Feast

Draco, Erin, Kristen, Ali, Crabbe, and Goyle were all sharing a compartment on the Hogwarts Express.
"Erin, I think I should go find Laura and Bobby and make sure theyre ok," Ali said getting slightly worried.
"Who are Laura and Bobby?" Kristen asked.
"Theyre new first years. I baby sit them and I want to make sure theyre alright," Ali explained.
"Ok, well come too," Erin agreed. As the three of them got up, so did Draco, Crabbe and Goyle. ****************************************************************************************************************
"Where are you going?" Erin asked.
"To bother Potter and company," Draco stated, "Where are you going?"
"To find Alis neighbors who are first years," Erin said then pondered something for a moment, "Well go with you first."
"Ok, fine," Draco decided. All five of them walked down the train to the compartment where the trio usually stayed. Draco knocked loudly on the door. Someone opened the door it was Granger. ****************************************************************************************************************
"What do you want?" she asked.
"You might want to learn some manners, Granger. Is that the way you answer your door at home?" Erin asked rudely.
"Well, usually people only come to my door when theyre invited," Hermione replied.
"Im surprised anyone would come to your house, Granger. Im also surprised that you three are still alive," Draco added.
"Whatever, why are you here?" Ron asked.
"Were looking for two little first years by the names of Laura and Bobby. Have you seen them?" Ali asked.
     "No," Harry said flatly.
"All right, I guess we should be leaving. We have important people to converse with," Erin stated snobbishly as they all stalked off, leaving the trio standing in disgusted amazement.
"That was really fun," Erin said as they walked down the hallway. They ran into two small people who conveniently were Laura and Bobby. So after Ali had a short conversation with them, they headed back to their compartment. ****************************************************************************************************************
"Good thing Im not in Gryffindor," Erin said as all six of them reentered their compartment. Everyone else just mumbled in agreement, but Ali asked,
     "Why?"
"Because," Erin said in disbelief, "Could you even imagine me with that crowd?"
     "Who?" Kristen asked
"Kristen, think about it," Erin said, "Who did I just meet and already made mortal enemies with?"
     "Oh," Kristen said.
"Besides," Erin added, "That Hermione Granger seems like a smarty-pants-know-it-all."
     "Exactly like you?" Kristen asked.
Erin shot Kristen a dark look and Kristen said nothing more about it. After a while, Draco, Crabbe and Goyle all fell asleep. ****************************************************************************************************************
"Why are they sleeping?" Ali asked uncomfortably.
"Crabbe and Goyle?" Erin responded, "No idea, probably because they do whatever Draco does."
"Well why is Draco sleeping?" Kristen asked.
"Uh maybe because hes tired?" Erin answered impatiently. Ali and Kristen looked at her suspiciously. Erin realized they were looking at her.
"Usually, At Dracos house," She started in a voice quieter than a whisper, "You dont go to bed until three oclock, and then theres all the yelling and screaming its really hard to sleep there."
     "But why?" Ali asked.
     "His Father," Erin explained.
"Well, what does he do?" Kristen asked frustrated.
Erin got up and walked over to where Draco was sleeping. She sat down next to his head and stroked his cheek with her finger.
"Its not what he does; its what he wont do," Erin replied.
"What wont he do?" Kristen asked getting very irritated.
"He wont love," Erin breathed. Ali and Kristen both knew that what Erin had said wasnt the whole truth, but by Erins tone, they knew the conversation had ended, and Erin changed the subject. ****************************************************************************************************************
"Look at him Ali," Erin said referring to Draco, "How can you say he isnt cute?"
"Because hes Draco Malfoy," Ali said with disgust, "I cant even believe Im sharing the same compartment with him!"
     "Why not?" Kristen asked.
"Kristen, you should know. He hasnt got the best rep," Ali explained and then turned her attention to Erin, "And neither do you for that matter!"
"What? Shit, no one here even knows me," Erin said in disbelief.
"They know of you," Ali said, "People talk. But anyway, whats up with this Draco thing? Do you like him or not?"
Erin sat there looking down at Draco, pondering Alis question. Finally she found an answer.
"I dont know," Erin stated plainly, "Hes more fun to tease than to actually go out with." Ali opened her mouth to say something but was cut off.
"Five minutes!" said a voice from out in the corridors.
"Five minutes!" Erin repeated breathlessly, "Five minutes and Ill finally be at Hogwarts!"
"Dragon," Erin whispered as she shook Draco to wake him up. Erin insisted on calling him Dragon because Draco meant Dragon in Latin. Draco sat up and looked around.
"Just wake me up when we get there, ok?" Draco asked. He lay back down, this time, with his head on Erins lap.
"See?" Erin asked Ali. Ali rolled her eyes in disgust and looked out the window.
Five minutes later, the scarlet steam engine pulled into the Hogsmeade station. The students started to pile out of the train and into the carriages.
****************************************************************************************************************
When they got to the castle, Erin just stood there, excitement and joy flooding all through her. They hurried into the Great Hall.
"Ali, I guess Ill see you tomorrow?" Erin said.
     "Yeah, alright," Ali said.
     "Bye," Kristen said.
"Bye Kristen, See you, Erin," Ali said as she headed off to join her fellow Hufflepuffs.
Erin and Kristen walked over to the Slytherin table and joined Draco, Crabbe, and Goyle.
They sat there, waiting for the Sorting Ceremony to begin, not talking about anything in particular.
The first years began to file into the Great Hall in two lines. They were following Professor McGonagall, and most of them were looking rather scared. Erin noticed one girl in particular. She was quite small, and was laughing hysterically.
Professor McGonagall placed the stool on the floor, and then placed the Sorting Hat on top. The hat twitched. It opened what appeared to be a mouth near the bring and began to sing,
****************************************************************************************************************
"Im old and frayed, as you can see.
But I doubt that in your life, youll find a smarter hat than me.
So put me on tightly round your head.
Ill choose your right House, despite what others said.
You might belong in Gryffindor, where dwell the bold and the brave
With their valor, nerve, and spirit, the world
     They will one day save.
You may belong in Slytherin where dwell the ambitious and pushy.
With their cunning and their wits, they world the will
One day take over, all because
     Of me.
Or maybe you belong in Hufflepuff, where dwell the sweet and the dedicated.
With their patience, kindness, and faithfulness,
The world they will one day aid.
And yet, you might belong in Ravenclaw, where dwell the sagacious and the wise.
With their intelligence and comprehension, the world
     They will one day advise.

     Now dont be afraid!
Just fit me on top of your head!
Ill find your match; you know its true!
Ill find the perfect house for you!"
****************************************************************************************************************
Everyone in the hall applauded politely as the hat finished. Professor McGonagall started calling out the new first years to be sorted.
"Abac, Ashley!" she called. Ashley meandered up to the stool. She sat there for a minute, with the hat on her head before the hat bellowed, "Ravenclaw!" After that, Aster, Bobby became a Hufflepuff, and Bromwell, Bridget became a Gryffindor. Erin found that like herself, no one else was to keen on paying close attention. They all seemed to be staring at her! Then she remembered that they only people who knew for a fact that she was joining their house were Draco, Kristen, Crabbe, and Goyle.
Kristen and Draco must have noticed it too because Kristen said, "Shes Erin Quinn."
Draco added, "Shes new and shes in our house, so be nice!"
Everyone at the Slytherin table was muttering after he had said this. They didnt know why Erin was coming in what should be her sixth year, but it died down.
****************************************************************************************************************
After Zuborni, Laura became a Hufflepuff (Erin noticed that this was the girl with uncontrollable laughter, and still was), Professor Dumbledore stood up.
"The beginning of a new year," he said smiling, "I would like to welcome you all back. This year though, along with the new first years, we have a new student joining us." As he said this, a hush fell over the hall.
"Her name is Erin Quinn. She is in the Slytherin House, and in her sixth year," he said.
Every head in the hall turned to Erin. She waved at them and said, "Hey everyone!" Every boys eyes stayed locked on Erin even after she sat down. She had them all under her spell.
"Now," Professor Dumbledore said as the muttering had died down, "Everyone, dig in!" The empty goblets and plates suddenly filled themselves and everyone was soon absorbed in their food and not paying much attention to Erin.
They ate until they felt like they were going to burst. Erin led the way out of the Great Hall and to the Slytherin common room. When they got to the entrance, nobody seemed to have remembered the password.
"Crap!" Kristen said, "Why cant I remember these things?"
"Basilisk," Erin said proudly, and they headed into the common room. They sat don on the chairs and couches.
"So," Kristen said, "Erin, what do you think of Hogwarts?"
"Yeah," Draco agreed, "What do you think?"

"I think its brilliant!" Erin said grinning from ear to ear.
