DAY 2

This was supposed to be a day to relax. No slogging around the shops among the sweaty locals. Just a quiet stroll among the animals of Ueno zoo........However........

Due to a bit of bad planning by someone who should know better (especially after living here for 13 years!) we discovered that the zoo closes on Mondays...so.

We went slogging around the shops among the sweaty locals. (Actually they are really nice people and don't sweat much at all.)

Here are the photos of today's adventure.

.....enough said.

Another piece of understated Japanese architecture. This one is in Akihabara, otherwise known as "Electric town" home of Japan's retail electronics industry. In other words; Stephen's idea of Heaven.

After Stephen disappeared we found him dangerously close to overloading his brain with all kinds of electronic gadgets. We dragged him away before he could do serious damage to Rod's wallet.

A quick stop for coffee and sandwiches. Rod feels brave and decides to go and buy something with no assistance and only a slim Japanese phrase book to help him. He comes back with a Blueberry cheescake. (He wanted a coffee)
