Year after year the Country Music Hall of Fame overlooks one of the most successful, most talented and glamorous female vocalists of all time- Miss Dottie West. While I will not go into bashing or saying that others do not deserve to be in the Country Music Hall Of Fame, I will say that Dottie West should have been inducted long before many of the inductees. I do not say this because I am a fan. Anyone with half knowledge of country music knows the impact Dottie West has had. Now lets look at some Dottie facts that will put the Country Music Hall Of Fame to shame!

Dottie is the only country female artists that has recorded with such music legends such as "Cowboy Copas" "Jim Reeves" "Don Gibson" "Jimmy Dean" "Kenny Rogers". She also has recorded with "John Schneider" and "Arne Benoni".

Dottie was the first female country singer to win a Grammy Award for her 1964 hit song "Here Comes My Baby" witch she co-wrote with her husband, Bill West.

In 1974, Billboard Magazine declared Dottie the Number One Female Writer in the United States and England declared the Number One Female Performer in 1974. She also won the title of Country Music Artist Of The Year from the British Country Music Association twice in a row.

In 1973 she recorded a jingle for Coca-Cola called Country Sunshine. When the song was released not only was it a smash hit and crossed over to the POP charts, but Co-Cola offered her a lifetime contract to write jingles and a lifetime supply of Coke and was the first woman in country music to win a Cilo Award, witch she was up againsts hundreds of people.

Dottie was the first woman in country music in 1972 to play the Las Vegas Strip. Even, Elvis Presley who was good friends with Dottie attended her first show. And he returned the following night and Elvis even delayed his return to his home an extra day so that he could catch the show a second time.

Dottie helped others artists attain their dreams of stardom. Larry Gatlin and Steve Wariner, Vince Gill, just to name a few. She saw their talent, and hired them to join the band. Steve wasn't even out of high school at the time. Their time with Dottie was well spent, as they have gone on to become multi-award winning writers and performers.

The list could go on, and on. The fact is she deserves to be in there. Not only is she a Legend, she was a Survivor! Through many personal tragedies she has always bounced back. If you agree and feel she should be in there, then express your opinion and write a letter to the Country Music Hall Of Fame.
