Chapter 8 - Hagrid's Mission
Continued
Harry remembered how Fudge had acted last year after the Tri-Wizard tournament. He had behaved strangely, and denied the fact that Voldemort in truth had returned. Dumbledore told him that they had come to a parting of the ways, after he had given the dementors kiss to Mr. Crouchs son. Harry vaguely remembered the details, but he seemed to remember him smiling a lot when he found out Voldemort had returned, which seemed suspicious to Harry.
Thats weird, said Ron, I wonder if Dad knows anything about it.
Maybe you should send him a letter and ask him, said Hermione.
Harry was worried. He wondered if the recent events had any connection at all; Mrs. Fig watching him constantly, Snape writing weird letters, Hagrid leaving to rally the giants, and now Fudge had resigned from the Ministry. It was all very strange, but then again, was there ever a time when Harry had gone to Hogwarts and had a perfectly normal year?
The next day after breakfast, Harry, Ron, and Hermione headed off towards Care of Magical Creatures.
I wonder who the replacement teacher will be? Hermione asked.
I hope its someone good, Ron said, I dont think I could handle another bad teacher this year. As they reached the class, Hermiones face fell at the sight of the new professor. Harry laughed.
I dont think youre going to have a problem with the new teacher, Ron, he said, In fact, I think youre really going to like her
Ron looked to see who the new teacher was, and his eyes instantly widened.
The girl standing in the front of the class had fluttery silver hair. Her skin was pale and glowing, and when she saw them, she smiled.
Ello friendz, she said, as she walked gracefully over to them. Ron blushed fiercely. Hermione glared at her, but Harry smiled politely.
Hello Fleur, or should I say Professor Delacourt? he said.
Oh, you may call me anyzing you weesh, she laughed, I do not mind
Your your English sounds much much better Fleur, Ron stammered.
Oh, reely? Zank you, I have been practizing, she giggled. Well, she said, I zink you should take your seets now, I am about to beegin zee lesson.
Fleur seemed nervous, but her lesson on fire crabs went well. Harry couldnt help but laugh when he looked at Ron, who couldnt take his eyes off of Fleur. After the lesson, Hermione seemed irritated.
I dont think you blinked more than twice that entire lesson, she said bitterly. Harry laughed, but Ron retaliated.
Oh yeah? he said, Well, I seem to remember a certain Professor Lockhart three years ago that you
Oh come off it, both of you! laughed Harry.
What about you, Harry? said Hermione, Did you ever like a teacher?
Yeah, said Ron, Harry has a thing for Professor Trelawney.
Oh, yeah, said Harry sarcastically, I just love her bug-like look
The three snorted with laughter as they headed off towards lunch.
Yesterday, long time Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge, officially resigned from his office. It is rumored that Fudge believed that as the Minister, he was a prime target in You-Know-Whos uprising. Fudge denied these accusations. Some also believe that other members of the Ministry pressured him to leave after a few bad decisions made last year at Hogwarts.
No comment was presented by Fudge on this rumor, but we did attain one quote from the former minister. I regret to say that I will be leaving my position as Minister, but I would like to remind the public that the Ministry has everything dealing with You-Know-Who under control. Fudge declined further comment or any reason as to why he was resigning. The Ministry has yet to find a replacement for the job.
