| Chapter 18 Suspicions |

| Suddenly, they heard a girl scream. All the students turned their heads to see what had happened. The girl who had screamed was frantically shaking her wand, as if trying to get something to come out of it. Whats wrong, dear? Mrs. Figg asked. Near tears, the girl stopped shaking her wand. I missed my arm and I accidentally sucked my bracelet up into my wand! she cried. That can be easily fixed, Mrs. Figg said, unconcerned. Prior Incantatum! she said, and the bracelet shot out of the end of the wand. It flew back to the girls wrist and clasped itself around. Slightly stunned, the girl looked back up at Mrs. Figg. Thank you, she said meekly. Any time, dear, Mrs. Figg said, smiling. If anyone else has problems with missing the cord and sucking something else up their wand, just use the Prior Incantatum spell and you will get whatever you lost back. The students returned to practicing their incantations. I kind of wish I had known this spell when I had my dream, Harry said. Yeah, that might have been useful, laughed Hermione. At least you know it now so if you ever have to use it for real, you can. Harry nodded in agreement. Maybe theres a reason Mrs. Figg is teaching us this, Harry thought to himself. He looked up at Mrs. Figg, who was still staring at him. He looked away again. I definitely need to find out what is going on with her, he thought. After Defense Against the Dark Arts, Harry saw Ron in the hallway a few feet ahead of Hermione and him. Can you go talk to him now? Harry asked her. Uh, sure, Hermione said uneasily. She hurried to catch up to Ron. Harry saw Rons face go pink as she approached him. He watched Hermione as she started to talk to him. They continued to talk as they walked. When they reached the Great Hall, Hermione and Ron suddenly stopped walking. Harry watched closely as Hermione gave Ron a hug and then walked back over to Harry. So? What happened? Harry asked eagerly. Well, Hermione said nervously, He said uh Yes? Harry said. Well, Harry, the truth is that Ron likes me, Hermione said. You mean, likes as in friends or likes as in a crush? Harry questioned. The crush way, she said, avoiding eye contact. Oh, Harry said. That explains why hes been acting so strangely. He told you that? No, Hermione admitted. Then how do you know? Harry asked skeptically. Its a girl thing, Harry, she explained, I can just tell these things. Right, Hermione, Harry said with doubt. Im serious! she exclaimed. Anyway, he said he was just a little upset that we were dating and he thinks its going to hurt our friendship. He thinks hes going to be left out of everything now. He also said he thinks you should apologize for the way youve been acting. The way Ive been acting? Harry repeated angrily. Hes the one acting like a stupid little I know, I know, Hermione agreed, But I still think you should just do it. Be the mature one. Please? For me? She looked at him with her beautiful brown eyes. Harry couldnt help but smile. All right, Hermione, just for you, he said, grinning. Thanks! she exclaimed, giving him a quick peck on the cheek. You can tell him after dinner. Harry was glad that Hermione was so understanding. Now all he had to do was convince Ron to be the same way. |
