Sirius Black and Remus Lupin were standing in front of Dumbledore with concerned looks on their faces.
�I�m glad to see you�re doing well,� Dumbledore said with a slight smile on his face.
�Yes, sir, but we have bad news,� Lupin said. Dumbledore�s face grew solemn. �We�ve found out that Voldemort has already subjugated the Dementors, and we�ve heard that Hagrid and Madame Maxime have been having trouble getting the giants on our side. It seems that they don�t want anything to do with either side.�
�I see,� Dumbledore said gravely. Harry�s stomach twisted.
�In addition, we�ve been spying on Voldemort�s activities. We�ve heard rumors that he is attempting to get to Hogwarts,� said Black.
�Do you know why?� Dumbledore asked.
�We think he wants to kill Potter,� Lupin said somberly. Harry felt his insides drop, and he began to feel woozy.
�Yes, I felt that would be part of his plan,� Dumbledore said, frowning. �As you know, we have placed heavy rules on the students, but Harry has a tendency to disregard them.� Harry felt heavy guilt. He didn�t like the fact that Dumbledore believed he was a rule breaker. �Sirius, I need you to stay here. Lupin, you may return to the mission at hand.� Lupin nodded and left the room. �Now, Sirius, I have another job for you to do. I need you to stay here and watch over Harry. You will need to stay in your Animagus form for now, it�s not safe to reveal you yet.� Black nodded in agreement.
�You can rely on me, sir,� he said. He transfigured into a giant, black dog, and trotted out of the room. Harry quickly followed him, as Dumbledore slumped wearily into his chair. Harry quietly left the office. Black turned to the left, as Harry took a right. As soon as Black was out of sight, he started to run back to the commons room. He reached the portrait, and rapped on the door. He backed up, as it swung open. He jumped inside and, panting, threw off the cloak.
�What happened?� exclaimed Hermione. Panting, Harry tried to get the words out, but none came.
�Calm down for a minute,� Ron said. Harry took a deep breath. �Now, what did you see?� Ron asked.
�There were two people in the hallway, and I followed them,� Harry said with difficulty, �They went to Dumbledore�s office, and I found out who the people were.�
�Who were they?� Hermione asked.
�Lupin and Black,� he said. Ron and Hermione�s mouths gaped open. �They were talking to Dumbledore about Volde� I mean You-Know-Who. They said they thought he was going to try to come to Hogwarts� �
�To do what?� interrupted Ron.
�To�to� to kill me!� Harry stammered.
