| After Harry saw that Snape was writing to the death eaters, he had to find out more. He told Ron and Hermione about what he saw, and they couldnt believe it either. Wow, what do you think hes doing? Ron asked. Do you remember last year, Harry began, When Dumbledore asked Snape if he was prepared to do something? Hermione and Ron nodded. What Im thinking, Harry continued, Is that Snape is tricking the other death eaters into giving him info, because we already know that hes on our side. Id like to find out what hes writing to them about, though. But how? asked Hermione. I think, said Harry mischievously, Its time to get out my dads old cloak Ron and Hermione nodded in agreement. Four years ago, Harry had received an invisibility cloak for Christmas. The cloak used to belong to his father. Harry used it whenever he needed to sneak around places without getting caught. This was one of those times. Harry knew all too well that it would be more dangerous this year. Dumbledore had clearly stated that any student seen outside of their commons room after 10:30 would be punished heavily, and Harry didnt want to risk that. He would have to be extremely cautious, and watch out for Filch and his cat. As they walked back to the commons room, Harry started having doubts. He remembered Siriuss letter, and although he knew he was perfectly capable of taking care of himself, he wondered why Sirius had told him so deliberately not to investigate on his own. Sirius was once a rule breaker too, along with Harrys father of course, so Harry couldnt understand why he would place so much emphasis on not creeping around at night. When Harry and his friends entered the commons room, he decided to express his concern. Maybe this isnt such a good idea, Harry said. Why not? Ron asked in surprise. Youre the one who mentioned it. I know, but you remember Siriuss letter, Harry said. Oh come on, Harry, Hermione said, Adults are always telling you not to sneak around the castle at night, but has there ever been a time that you actually listened to them? I guess not, Harry said with heavy doubt. Anyway, Hermione said, I think the first place youd better go is Snapes office. If hes there, you shouldnt go in, but if hes not there then see if you can find some of his letters. Whats plan B? Ron asked. Hermione gave him a puzzled look. You know, Ron began, What should he do if Snapes in his office? Oh, said Hermione, He should just come back here. Its enough danger to just try to go to Snapes classroom, so dont risk going anywhere else. Alright, agreed Harry, What time are we going to do this? Id say 11:30 should suffice, said Hermione smartly. Their plan made, they headed off for dinner. They sat down at the Gryffindor table and quickly ate in silence. They tried to keep their anxiety down as they apprehensively waited for dinner to end. As soon as dinner was over, they hustled back up to the commons room. What time is it? Ron asked as they entered the room. Its just after nine-thirty. We still have two hours, said Hermione. Ron groaned. I guess well just have to hang out here until its late enough to go out, he said. Harry nodded. He looked at Ron, and then noticed something he hadnt seen before. Ron still had a small mark on his forehead where he was hit by the bludger. It wasnt that noticeable, but Harry still saw it. |
