What are you doing here? he asked.
We just wanted to wish you good luck for tomorrows match! Colin said happily.
Not that you need it! Dennis added.
Er, thanks, Harry lied. He began to fly away. He heard Colin talking to Dennis.
You see that broom, Dennis? he said. Thats a Firebolt! Dyou see how well Harrys flying it? Harry rolled his eyes. He set off to continue practicing. Suddenly, he saw Ron flying towards him quickly.
Harry! he yelled.
Whats wrong? Harry said uneasily.
I just noticed that Mrs. Figg is writing things down as she is watching you, Ron said nervously. Harry looked down at Mrs. Figg. She was busily writing on a piece of parchment. Harrys stomach churned. Shes taking notes on me?
Alright, Ill pay close attention to her Harry said. As Ron flew away, Harry looked over to Mrs. Figg. She was staring at him. He looked away, and began to feel queasy. Was Mrs. Figg spying on Harry for the Death Eaters? Maybe she and Snape were both working for the Death Eaters, he thought. He shook his head vigorously. It cant be, he thought, it just cant.
He decided to focus on the upcoming Quidditch match. He would be playing his long time Quidditch opponent, and love interest, Cho in the next game, and Harry had no idea how much better she had become. It had been more than a year since they had last competed against each other, and Cho had been very difficult to beat. If she had been practicing, then she might have even surpassed Harry on the talent level. All Harry could do now is practice, and wait.
The next morning, Harry was very apprehensive about the match scheduled for that afternoon. Almost bumping into five people as he walked towards breakfast, he couldnt concentrate on anything except the game. He almost didnt even hear the voice calling out his name.
Harry! Harry! someone was yelling. Harry turned around and scanned the mass of people. Suddenly, he saw Cho waving at him. Harry felt dizzy as she began to jog towards him. After she reached Harry, she began to speak.
I just wanted to wish you good luck in the game today. Im looking forward to playing you again, she said, batting her eyelashes. Harry felt his face go red.
I uh. Good luck too I mean, he stuttered. He started to sweat slightly. Why did he always have to lose his ability to speak when Cho was around? Cho giggled and flipped her hair.
I saw you practicing yesterday, you look like youve gotten better. I see why theyve made you captain, she said, smiling. Harry couldnt speak. Who wasnt there, he wondered. But he didnt have much time to think about it, because suddenly he felt someone pulling on his shirt. He looked beside him and saw Hermione scowling at Cho.
Come on, Harry, well be late for breakfast, she said, glaring at Cho. Harry gave Hermione an annoyed look, and then turned back to Cho. She was still smiling.
Well, I guess Ill see you later, she said. She began to walk away.
Alright, bye! Harry yelled. As Cho left, Harry turned back to Hermione. Whats wrong with you? Why did you have to scare her off? he asked angrily. He was fuming now. Just when he had actually begun to make conversation with Cho, Hermione had to tell her off.
I I Hermione stuttered, looking very hurt.
Do I sense a little jealousy? Harry said sarcastically. He stared at Hermione angrily, but then began to feel terrible as he saw her eyes well up with tears. Suddenly, she bounded off down the hallway. Hermione, I didnt mean... he said, his voice trailing off.
Good one, Harry, came a voice from behind him. Harry turned around to see Ron staring after Hermione. You sure know how to talk to a girl, he laughed.
Stuff it, Ron, Harry said crossly as they started off towards breakfast. He wasnt all that hungry, but he had to eat something in order to have enough energy to beat Cho. He stuffed some eggs down his throat, along with some orange juice. Ron ate quickly too, as both of them were very anxious to play the Quidditch game.
