| Chamber of Secrets DVD Review |
| I got my CoS DVD last night and watched the entire movie, with the exception of the Spider's Hollow scene, and did most of the features on the second disk. Here's my review of it: First off, the movie. It was as good on the disc as on the big screne. The acting was superb, espicialy by Daniel Radcliffe(Harry). He had a lot more "to himself" moments which showcased his acting. Great things are in his future. Rupert, as always, provided the much needed comic relief of this heavy movie, and Emma has matured quite nicely, as does Hermione. Alll three have great things ahead of them. The rest of the filmmaking was superb. There was a nice variety of shot angles that weren't there is the first movie, and the writting was superb. Onto the dreaded second disc. Yet again, like its predesessor, this disc was almost complete waste of time. Over half the deleted scenes belong on the cutting room floor, and I know for a fact there were more. On a special on E!, they showed an alternate version of Ron's "So there really is a Chamber of Secrets". It was in the common room and they showed them filiming it. The cast interviews were okay, except that parts of the main three were shown on other TV programs. The interview with J.K Rowling and Steve Kloves, however, was a realy treat. Some interesting things are discussed. The tour of Dumbledore's office was interesting. It was totaly different from the tours on the first disc. It was clear, and very well shot. There is also a tour of the Chamber set. Although you have to complete an easy game to get there, it was good. The film makers must have felt horrible when these sets had to be torn down. I do. The DVD -Rom features are a lot better that the SS ones. RThe matching Potions game is quite nice, and you can dowload a screensaver and backround. Overall, I give the DVD a B. It was okay, but it was still under my expectations. |
