| Headmaster Albus Dumbledore : Albus Dumbledore is the headmaster of Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry and is known as one of the greatest wizard's of his time. Dumbledore is famous for his defeat of the dark wizard Grindelwald in 1945, his discovery of the tweleve uses of dragon's blood and also his work on alchemy with his partner Nicholas Flamel. He has a pet pheonix named Fawkes who provided the feather in the core of Harry's wand and also in Voldemort's. Dumbledore is a very powerful wizard and is the only wizard that Voldemort is frightened of. Professor Minerva McGonagall : Professor McGonagall is the deputy headmistress of Hogwarts and is head of the Gryffindor House. She teaches Transfiguration and is an animagus who can transform into a cat. McGonagall is a very strict teacher, has no favorite students and always wears her black hair in a tight bun. It was Professor McGonagall who let Harry off for flying a broom when he shouldn't be and offered him a place as seeker on the house quidditch team. Professor Severus Snape : Professor Snape is head of the Slytherin house and teaches Potions but wishes to have the job as teacher of Defense Againest the Dark Arts, but has failed to get it for the past four years. He went to school in the same year as Harry's father James and hates Harry just as much as he hated him. Snape used to be a Death Eater but returned to the other side before Voldemort lost his powers and is trusted completely by Dumbledore. Snape has a very important role to play in stopping Lord Voldemort from gaining power again. Although we are still not positively sure what tis may be yet. a spy prehaps? Rubeus Hagrid : Hagrid is gamekeeper/keeper of keys at Hogwarts and also teaches Care of Magical Creatures. Hagrid was once a student at Hogwarts but was expelled in his third because he was thought to have released the Evil creature in the Chamber of Secrets but his name was cleared in Harry's second year when Harry discovered the real Heir of Slytherin. Hagrid loves any creature that is big or dangerous he once hatched an illegal dragon egg that he named Norbert and is known for making friends with giant deadly spiders called Acromantulas. Hagrid is also known for having a 3 headed dog named Fluffy, and a pet boarhound name Fang. In Harry's fourth year we also discovered that Hagrid is part giant which explains his huge size. Professor Binns : Professor Binns is the History of Magic teacher at Hogwarts and is the only ghost who is a teacher. His classes are very dull and boring and he never falters from his routine, even death didn't stop him. He was said to have died in his sleep while sitting by the fire and woke up the next mourning and left to teach leaving his body behind not even noticing that he had died. Professor Quirrell : Professor Quirrell was only a teacher for one year while Harry was at Hogwarts and that was in Harry's first year when he taught Defense Againest the Dark Arts. Quirrell was a very nervous teacher who had a habit of stuttering which most believdv he got when he decided to try Defense Againest the Dark Arts outside of books. But by the end of the year we learn this is all just an act and he was just trying to help Voldemort back to power by getting the Philosopher's Stone for him. Voldemort had joined body's with him and when Harry prevented them from getting the stone Voldemort left his body leaving him to die. Professor Sprout : Professor Sprout is head of the Hufflepuff House and teaches Herbology in the greenhouses (Neville's best subject). She loves working with wizarding nature and knows all about every magical plant there is. Professor Filius Flitwick : Professor Flitwick is a tiny little teacher who teaches Charms. He got very excited when first scrolling down the register and seeing that he would be teaching the famous Harry Potter as he toppeled off his stack of pillows! Everyone enjoys his classes espically when they learned Cheering Charms! Professor Alaster Moody (Mad-Eye Moody) : Mad-Eye is an Ex-Auror and sees dark wizards everywhere he looks and is always being over cautious (who can blame him after what he has seen). He was supposed to teach Defense Againest the Darks Arts at Hogwarts in Harry's fourth year but he was kidnapped by Barty Crouches son who took complete control over him for the full year. Professor Remus Lupin : Lupin who is also known as Moony was the Defense Againest the Dark Arts teacher in Harry's third year at Hogwarts. While in Hogwarts himself he had been best friends with James Potter (Prongs), Sirius Black (Padfoot), and Peter Pettigrew (Wormtail), who you may recognise as the creators of the Marauder's Map. Lupin left teaching at Hogwarts when it got out that he was a werewolf and although kind and trustable parents do not wish to have their children taught by werewolves. Lupin was an excellent teacher and even Neville enjoyed his classes. Remus Lupin was called back by Dumbledore in Harry's fourth year to help fight Lord Voldemort from coming back into his past power. Professor Gilderoy Lockhart : Lockhart was Defense Againest the Dark Arts teacher in Harry's second year. He was a famous person who wrote all of the books he used and was quite full of himself. As was discovered by Harry and Ron everything in his books was done by someone else and Lockhart was just taking credit for it to become the famous person that he was. He left teaching when a memory charm that was aimed at Harry and Ron backfired on him and he completely lost all of his memory. Professor Trelawny : Trelawny teaches Divination in the highest tower at Hogwarts (a very imprecise branch of magic according to McGonagall). She has made very few predictions that came true and has been predicting Harry's death since the first day he walked into her class. She favours students who seem to have a hint of possesing the inner eye and is the only teacher in the school who Hermione doesn't respest and the same for Trelawny towards Hermione. Madame Pomfry : Madame Pomfry is Hogwarts nurse and knows every magical remedy for every accident or injury. She is very strict when it comes to the care of her patients including plenty of bed rest and always taking their medicine. She is also not too keen on her patients having visitors when they should be resting and gets very flustered whenever anyone goes againest this. Madame Hooch : Madame Hooch teaches flying lessons at Hogwats and is also instructer for Quidditch. She has short gret hair and yellow eyes like a hawk. Madame Irma Pince : Madame Pince is Hogwarts school Librarian and is very strict when it comes to her library and her books. She likes to keep the library quiet, as it should be and you could possibly be kicked out if you don't. The library has books on every magical topic you can think of and has yet to fail Hermione when she's trying to find out something. No student is allowed in her restricted room without a signed note from a teacher. Professor Vector : Professor Vector is Hogwarts Arithmacy teacher. Professor Sinistra : Professor Sinistra is Hogwarts Astronomy teacher. Professor Grubbly-Plank : Professor Grubbly-Plank was a Care of Magical Creatures subsitute in Harry's fourth year when Hagrid wouldn't show his face for over a week because of an article in the Daily Prophet telling everyone that he was part giant. Grubbly-Plank started the classes lessons on Unicorns and Hagrid continued them when he returned. Argus Filch and Mrs. Norris : Filch is Caretaker at Hogwarts, he is a very old mean tempered man who enjoys yelling at students and giving detentions. Filch has it out for all the students some believe because he is a Sqiub and is jealous they can do magic. Filch's main goal is to rid Hogwarts of Peeves the school Poltergeist who is always causing trouble. He has a cat named Mrs. Norris who is always on the lookout for students breaking any rules. Professor Karkaroff : Karkaroff was the Headmaster at Drumgstrang a school hiddn in the North. He favoured his student Krum for his excellent skills on the Quidditch pitch. He was a convicted Death Eater but was let out of Azkaban when he gave the Ministry many names of other Death Eaters who followed Lord Voldemort. Karkaroff fled when the Dark Mark began to burn on his arm leaving his school behind, knowing the Death Eaters would not give him a warm welcome back. Madame Maxime : Madame Maxime is Headmistress at the french wizarding school Beauxbatons. Although she does not admit it and claims to just have big bones, Madame Maxime is also a part giant along with Hagrid who we believe she has a soft spot for. |
