Quidditch
Quidditch is one of the most interesting, entertaining, and famous magical wizarding sports. It involves the use of 4 balls and 14 players on broomsticks, 7 to a team. Quidditch was developed from a series of ancient wizard games  which slowly evolved to the sport it is today. You can read all about this in 'Quidditch Through the Ages' by Kennilworthy Whisp. Here is a brief over view of how the game is played.
There are seven players on each team, 3 are Chasers they use a red ball about the size of a football called the Quaffle. The Chasers throw the Quaffle between each other and try to get it through one of the hoops to score a goal. The team is awarded 10 points every time the Quaffle goes through one of the opposing teams 3 hoops. Each team has one Keeper the Keeper has to fly around their teams three hoops and try to block the opposing team from scoring with the Quaffle. A team also has two Beaters, these players are mostly concerned with Bludgers. There are two Bludgers used in a game of Quidditch. Bludgers are jet black balls slightly smaller then the Quaffle, these balls zoom around in the air and try to knock players off their brooms. The Beaters job is to protect their side from the Bludgers and knock them towards the other team with a club. The last player of a team is the Seeker, The Seeker's job is to find and catch the smallest ball used in the game the Golden Snitch, a bright golden ball about the size of a walnut with fluttering silver wings. It is the most important ball used in the game, for the game only ends when the Snitch has been caught so it can go on for ages. When a team's Seeker catches the Snitch the team is awarded 150 points and the game is over.
