A Biblical Chronology Nobody should lose faith when there is no rapture in the several years after the year 2000, since Jesus didn't promise us this. The Biblical chronology below shows that God doesn't operate according to exact millennial or centennial years, and that the year 2000 may actually have been the year 6106 since Adam was created, not the year 6000, as is often assumed.

The scriptures are so highly detailed in their chronology that once we have a beginning date for the reign of King Solomon, the date Adam was created can be determined.

The list below shows: Name, Year Born B.C., Year Of Creation,

When Did Abram Leave Haran?

Some say that Abram didn't leave Haran until his father died and that therefore Abram was actually born in the year of Creation 2009, but this would mean that Terah fathered Abraham when he was almost 130, for Genesis 11:32 says Terah died at 205, and Genesis 12:12 says Abram departed Haran when he was 75. But this seems unlikely considering the ages at which Terah's immediate forefathers had their children (Genesis 11:12-26), and considering the fact that Abraham fathering a child at 100 was considered somewhat of a miracle, for it says he "against hope believed in hope" and "considered not his own body now dead" (Romans 4:18-20). Also, there's nothing which requires Abraham NOT be born when Terah was 70, just as Genesis 11:26 says.

I believe Genesis 12:4 could have happened before Genesis 11:32 in the same way Luke 3:21 happened before Luke 3:20. Genesis 12:1 suggests that God "had" already commanded Abram to leave his father's house before his father died. I don't believe Genesis 11:32 was placed before Genesis 12:4 in order to show that Terah died before Abram left Haran, but to complete the Shem-to-Terah genealogy in Genesis 11:10-32, which consistently allows us to figure how old each man was when he died. Also, if Abram was born when Terah was 70, and left Haran at the age of 75, then he left Haran when Terah was 145. This means Terah died 60 years after Abram left Haran. To put the account of Terah's death in its chronological place in Genesis would have interrupted the story of Abram's sojourning in Canaan, of which it played no part.

Some point out that Acts 7:4 seems pretty clear that Abram left Haran after the death of his father Terah, but Acts 7:4 could be a copyist's error, as Acts 7:16 may also be, for the latter says "Abraham" bought a sepulchre in Shechem from the sons of Hamor, while the Old Testament only says that "Jacob" bought some land in Shechem from the sons of Hamor (Genesis 33:18-19) and that Abraham bought a sepulchre in Hebron from Ephron (Genesis 23:17-20).

If Abraham DID leave Haran only after the death of Terah, then the years of the above chronology should be adjusted by adding 60 years to both the "Year Born BC" and "Year Of Creation" columns from the birth of Abraham downward, resulting in calendar year 2000 being the year 6166 of Creation, which would put calendar year 2000 even further away from being the year 6000 of Creation.

How Long Was Israel In Egypt?

Some believe that Galatians 3:16-17 means that the Exodus occurred and the Mosaic covenant was made exactly 430 years after either Genesis 12:3 (compare Galatians 3:8), when Abraham was 75 (Genesis 12:4), or Genesis 15:6 (compare Galatians 3:6), when Abraham was somewhere between 75 and 85 (Genesis 16:3), or Genesis 17:7 (compare Galatians 3:16), when Abraham was 99 (Genesis 17:1). But I believe the 430 years of Exodus 12:40-41 refers to the time Israel was in Egypt, as Genesis 15:13 says they shall be "afflicted" 400 years, which affliction I believe began about 30 years after Jacob entered Egypt.

But if the Exodus did occur exactly 430 years after Abraham's 75th to 99th year, then the years of the above chronology should be adjusted by subtracting 215 to 191 years from both the "Year Born BC" and "Year Of Creation" columns from the Exodus downward, resulting in calendar year 2000 being the year 5891 to 5915 of Creation.

If we then also add the possible 60 years from the "When Did Abram Leave Haran?" question, calendar year 2000 would become the year 5951 to 5975 of Creation, meaning the 7th millennium of Creation would not begin until 2049 to 2025.

So even considering these different possibilities, we still don't find that calendar year 2000 was the year 6000 of Creation.
