THE CRAWLER
HOME
This is a custom-made rock crawler. I used the axles from an old ClodBuster. It's powered by dual powerful 55-turn motors; one on each axle. It has independent front and rear steering controlled by Titanium-geared servos. It took about 6 weeks and a bit over $1000 to build. Well worth it.

These are pics from the beginning stages. The hardest part is designing the chassis, linkage, and suspension. After that it's all adding electronics. The pic on the right shows the range of articulation. I tried for a full 90-degree, but I'm more than satisfied with it's operation.
Here are a couple pics showing the electronics all installed and ready to roll. The radio reciever and ESC (Electronic Speed Control) are both inside the blue plastic box and sealed with silicon. The entire truck is waterproof.
This is just a couple pics from the UTRCRC Competition down in Little Moab, Utah during December 2006.
