Lately and most often I've composed the music first, and then, I've worked to put lyrics to those notes.  I'd be interested in how you make songs - which comes first for you, the music or the words?

If you compose the music first, which musical instrument do you do it on? (I usually use my Yamaha DGX 305, and put it on record when I'm ready to jot the melody down.)
