| The art of reading teacups, probably began with the ancient Chinese. They were accustomed to taking omens from the appearance of the inside of bells-and their small handleless teacups,when inverted, looked like very small bells. So teacups became associated with the bell omens, and the patterns formed by the tea-leaves inside the cups came to have a divinatory significance. If you dont like tea you can always read the grounds left in the bottom of your coffee cup. The Romans read the sediment left by their wine.... |
| The person who wants their fortune told must drink the tea or coffee ...leave enough liquid in the bottom of the cup to allow the leaves to be swirled .Traditionaly the cup is held by the handle, in the left hand,the cup is swirled three times clockwise,making sure the liquid reaches up to the rim of the cup, the cup is then inverted into a saucer , and the liquit is allowed to drain for the count of seven. The cup can now be turned the right way up, with the handle facing you.The leaves left in the cup can now be read. |
