Whistle Stop Cafe
Whistle Stop Cafe

On 18 February 2006 we ate fried green tomatoes at The Whistle Stop Cafe. This spot along the once busy railroad tracks was the scene for the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes At The Whistle Stop Cafe." It is more commonly referred to simply as "Fried Green Tomatoes."

The cafe is one of the few remaining businesses still operating in this once bustling community. Now it would seem that mostly tourists (like us) and a few locals who want a unique dining experience frequent the cafe. This place, like so many other small towns across America, have trouble competing with complexes that spring up along our Interstate Highway System.

Yes, we had fried green tomatoes--and in February--and they were delicious. We don't have a clue where they came from this time of year.

Whistle Stop Cafe is located in Juliette, Georgia near Jarrell Plantation. There are no restaurants near the plantation, so it is not uncommon to go to the cafe for lunch of stop by for supper after spending a day in the area.

There was actually a waiting line to get into the cafe and the meal was well worth the wait.

Pictured below is a shop across the street from Whistle Stop Cafe.
