General characteristic. Strong cats of average size, with strong boning, the skin is gentle to the touch, sometimes velvety feeling and hot to the touch. Expressed sexual dimorphism. They are very active and sweet. The head is of wedge form with precisely outlined cheekbones. Eyeballs are appreciable. Forehead is flat, with set of vertical wrinkles above the eye. Nose is of average length, direct, with easily designated transition to forehead. The muzzle is rather short, with easy pinch, slightly rounded. The bite is defined on the conduction of the canines. Canines are long, and come from under upper lip. Vibrises are thick, but can be broken off or be absent. Ears are big, highly and widely put, and slightly inclined forward, they are wide open with rounded ends. The external end of the ear does not come out to cheek line. Ears are of average size, are put rather sidelong, rather narrowly open. All eye color is acceptable. The body is strong, muscular, of average length, with wide boning, is hot to the touch. A deep groin line. Cats has strong boning, straight forearms, The toes are long and mobile. The tail is long, strong and flexible. The skin is elastic, folded on the head, neck, armpits and groin area. On young Don's the muzzle can be covered with short, thin wool on the cheeks and in the base of ears. They during winter, such wool can appear on entire body. Residual overgrowth of "points" is allowed on muzzles, ears and tail. The The residual wool should completely disappear from adult cats by 2 years of age. Kittens may exhibit rex waves. Waved vibrises are obligatory, distinctive attribute of newborn Don Sphynx. Wooly cats with variety brush, bristly wool on all body sites with balding on the head, neck or back can be used in breeding, pass examination at exhibitions, but not compete for the champions certificate. USA written standards: Donskoy Sphynx {DSX} BREED STANDARD General appearance: Hairless Breed of sturdy medium-sized cats with strong boning; skin thick, soft, velvety and hot by touch. This breed with it�s curly whiskers may have soft, dense, close lying, slightly curly coat. Loose skin is common and the skin flaps on the belly and under the elbows aid not only in athletic abilities and dispersing heat in the summer. Expressed sexual dimorphism. Very agile and possess a kind nature. Many Donskoy's enjoy playing with or in water and maintain their colony instincts. As a pet they are highly intelligent, adaptable, soft-voiced. Head: Wedge-shaped with pronounced cheekbones and eyebrows. Eyeballs marked. Forehead flat with numerous vertical wrinkles becoming horizontal above eyes. Nose medium-sized, straight, with a slight break. Muzzle not long, with a slight pinch, slightly rounded. Profile with a definite curve to the straight nose of medium length. Strong Chin well developed. Bite is determined by the position of canines, no gap. Canines long may be seen from under upper lip. Whiskers: Curly, thick, may break off almost to the base, so that a cat may have no whiskers at all. Curly whiskers are obligatory with the newborn Don Sphynx. Ears: Big, set up broad and high, slightly bent forward, wide open, with rounded tips. Outer edges of the ears continue the lines of the head. Eyes: Medium-sized, almond-shaped, set up slantwise, moderately open. Color immaterial. Neck: Medium in length, rounded and well muscled. The neck arches from the base of skull to the shoulders and is powerful, especially in males. Body: Torso: Sturdy, muscular, of medium length, compact, with broad rump, hot to touch. Extra skin gives appearance of a tummy flip and deep scrotum line with a deep groin area. Robust boning. Full round belly{Piglet belly} Legs: Forearms straight, good moving, long, medium strong. Hind legs longer than forelegs. Slight down hair is tolerated. Totally bare cats are preferred. Feet: Paws oval with long toes (monkey fingers). Tail Long, straight, strong and flexible. Skin Elastic, redundant, wrinkled on skull, neck, in armpits and scrotum. With young animals muzzle may be covered with short thin hair longer on cheeks and at the base of ears ("ear muff"). Coat: Bald, allowance to be made for residual fur on the� points", muzzle, ears, legs and tail. The remaining coat, if present, must completely disappear by the age of 2 years old. Newborns may have Rex-wavy coat and bald spot on head. In winter slight furnishing of the whole body possible. Coat Types: Born Bald {BB} - Born bald, total hairlessness -Show coat Flocks {Bf}- Feels soft to the touch, full hairlessness by 2- Show coat Velour {Bv}- crush velvet hair coat, residue remaining on face, legs and tail. The judging procedure is separate for each color; all tabbies are judged as one group with no respect to this or that kind of pattern. Ears: Large, with rounded tips. Set high, slightly tilted forward. Outer edges of the ears continue the lines of the head. Eyes: Medium large, almond-shaped, slanted. Any colour allowed. Coat: The skin is thick, elastic, with lots of wrinkles on the head, neck, belly and legs. Slight down hair is tolerated, but totally bare skin is preferred. Whiskers are desired. Young cats can have slight fluff on legs, feet tail and muzzle, to disappear by two years of age. Totally bare cats are preferred. Colour: All colours are accepted, the descriptions of colours are listed in the General Colour Guide. Faults: Thin skin and/or not enough wrinkles.
