Paper Mario
The sequel to Super Mario RPG goes 2-D!
Finally, Super Mario RPG has a sequel. But does it live up to its expectations? Read on.

Stats:
Name: Paper Mario ("Paper Mario Story" in Japan)
Genre: RPG
Console: N64
ESRB Rating: E (for everyone)
Players: 1
Developer: Intelligent Systems/Nintendo
Release Date: ?

Graphics: 9.9
Although everyone was a paper character, they still had some detail and excellent design and color. The buildings and color also set the mood very well.

Sound: 9.8
It had very good music and sound effects. The music wasn't extraordinary, but it sufficed. Attacking, defending and performing tasks had great sound effects to go along with it, especially the Quake Hammers and the D-Down moves.

Gameplay: 10
By far, this is where it excels. The fact that it's an RPG means there's some gameplay. The fact that it's a good RPG means you can expect a lot from the game. It delivers in this area. There are plots, side tasks, special bonuses and secrets to aim for; it's great. Especially since it's a Mario game.

Control: 9.9
The Action Command is suprisingly easy to pull off. Sure, there's the long-range attacks and multiple attacks, but there is very good control. You can sneak, walk, or run around in your setting, which is great if you want those First Strikes...

Replay Value: 10
As with many RPGs, you'll often want to beat yourself whenever you finish the game. You can race in time or completeness. You'll definitely want to play it at least once.

Overall Rating: 9.92
There is never a perfect RPG game, but Paper Mario comes close. Even though most people agree that the first one is better, the sequel is sure to satisfy. Of course, that's just me. Play it and find out yourself.
