People Of The Community: Our Showcase Of The Characters That Paint Our Rainbow
Nate Kavanaugh

First of all, I must stress the
fact that I've pretty much always been a fan of Nate's work, starting
from high school, when his current style was really coming into
fruition. But I must say that the real reasons why I became
a fan are still there--the surprisingly realistic self-effacing
comedy and depression, and the lack of overall self esteem which
makes him such a great comical push-over and comedic foil.
However, this latest Nate shows some signs of new and very unexpected
bursts of biting insult humor. Though I do like his new-found
confidence, brought on largely by a new woman in his life who
shall remain nameless, it seems to part with Nate's tried and
true classic shtick. I sincerely hope she won't become a
'Yoko Ono', or 'Audrey Rodriguez-Saunders' for Kavanaugh's career.
But given Nate's indeciveness, latent homosexual urges, and the
fact that the young woman in question will be leaving for LA at
the end of summer, we should be expecting the old Nate back very
soon. Other than that, I must say that this whole beard thing
just irks me--don't get me wrong, I think it could be great in
about five some years when Nate becomes a part-time clerk at Streetlight
Records, but for the time being, it's just got to go--possibly
replace it with some facial stubble? I don't know, I'm just
a critic. Anywho, I'd give the latest Nate a 6 out of 10--keeping
in mind, of course, that he's really gone out of his way to try
new things, and experiment with some new stuff, and it's very
rareeven for the best artists to do well in new territory.
