The Wild Karrde is smuggling king Talon Karrde's personal freighter. A beat-up-looking Action IV bulk freighter, beneath the scarred hull plates hides a ship that serves as a mobile base of communications for perhaps the most well-informed person in the galactic fringe. Karrde maintains a large fleet, including at least two other bulk freighters, several Skipray Blastboarts, a Corellian corvette, and countless small freighters, but this particular ship is his favorite.
    The Action IV is one of many common tranport ships-lumbering, ungainly cargo craft. Stock Action IV transports are 125 meters long, with a cargo capacity of 90,000 metrci tons-one bulk freighter can carry as much cargo as nine hundred light freighters. These ships are slow, easily damadged in combat, and completely unarmed, so Imperial and New Republic cargo convoys often must deploy Nebulon-B escort frigates or corvettes to protect them. The Wild Karrde, by contrast, is far from helpless. It has three turbolasers rated for combat against capitla starships, with extra shielding and reinforced hull plating-the ship is as though as an Imperial Lancer frigate.
    Of course, the canny smuggler realizes that the best way to win a battle is to avoid it in the first place, and the Wild Karrde maintains and incredibly sophisticated sensor shroud system that rivals those found aboard Imperial spy ships. At long range, the Wild Karrde's masking system can hide the ship from casual scans, while at close range this system makes the ship appear to be nothing more than an unarmed, helpless cargo vessel.
    The transport's sublight and hyperdrive systems have been completely overhauled. At sublight, the ship is as fast as most Imperial warships, and while almost any fighter could overtake it, it is doubtful that any of them carriers the weaponry needed to punch through the armor. The Wild Karrde has a Class One hyperdrive, making it as fast in hyperspace as most starfighters. Karrde's navigation computer is almost as detailed at those found aboard Imperial Star Destroyers.
    The Wild Karrde contains a small docking bay, and air lock, and an extendable force tube for linking ships in deep space. Talon Karrde has converted much of the interior space: the rear holds have been fitted with a complete life support system, enabling the Wild Karrde to carry passengers or animals in addition to standard cargoes. The forward hold contain permanent living quarters and offices.
    The sophisticated hyperradio communication array, which is normally found only on military or government vessels, allows Karrde to keep in touch with all of his smugglers and information gatherers, regardless of where his duties take him. With several basic medical bays, a driod bay, repulsorlift vehicles, and even a kennel for Karrde's vornskr guard animals, the Wild Karrde is prepared for almost every eventuallity.
