The numbers of planets and moons in the Star Wars universe
is limitless, but in this section I have
included a list of approx. one hundred of these bodies.
They are organized by which are they are
in, such as the Inner Rim or the Hapes Consortium. With
each area, there is a brief discription
of that region, plus the list of planets in that region.
Click on the planet you wish to know more
about to get a more detailed discription of the
individual bodies.
To start, I will give a few definitions. For ease of classification,
Old republic
cartographers divided the galaxy into regions, sectors,
and systems:
-Regions are the largest divisional groupings. Regions
vary greatly in size
and location, from small pockets of space such as the
Centrality to the
vast expanses of the Outer Rim.
-Sectors are subdivisions of regions. The original definition
of a sector was
and area of space with fifty inhabited planets, but increased
exploratoin has
caused many sectors to grow far beyond their original
boundaries.
-Systems consist of individual stars and their orbiting
planets, some have
none, while others contain only drifting asteroids or
comets. Only a fraction
of stars are encircled by planets, and only a fraction
of these planets can
sustain life. Despite this, any galactic atlas will readily
list over a million
inhabited worlds and thousands of intelligent alien species.
Region/System List
Deep Core
The Deep Core is a densely packed mass of stars lying
at the very heart of the galaxy.
Since the gravitational pull of it's myriad of sun snarls the fabric
of hyperspace, the
region was long thought to be impenetrabel. Emperor Palpatine, however,
discovered
several safe hyperlanes into the protected region, and it remained
a stuborn Imperial
stronghold for nearly two decades after the Battle of Endor. The star
systems within the
Deep Core are sometimes called the Core Systems

Koornacht Cluster
The Koornacht Cluster, a luminous
disk of blazing stars and intersteller gas, sits in the
Farlax sector near the fringes of the Deep Core. It was Imperial territory
from the end
of the Clone Wars until soon after the Battle of Endor, when the Yevetha
successfully
hijacked the Empire's retreating Black Fleet armada. Twelve years later
the Yevethans
rabidly annihilated all "foreign" colonies inside the Cluster's borders,
forcing the New
Republic to retaliate.

Core Worlds
This ancient region bordering the Deep Core contains
the most pretigious and densely-
populated planets in the galaxy. There are, of course exceptions, like
the seedy
Abredago-rae, but most of the Core Worlds are universally revered.
The Old Republic
was born in the Core Worlds and spread out from there to settle other
distant star systems.
A bastion of Imperial support, the Core Worlds were finally liberated
by the New Republic
apporximately three years after Endor. However, an Imperial resurgence
led by Palpatine's
clone forced the Alliance to withdraw temporarily, and the Rebels had
to capture the Core
Worlds a second time.

Corellian Sector
Situated within the Core Worlds, this legendary area
contains the five worlds of the
Corellian system and dozens of other neighboring systems known as the
Outliers. Formerly
ruled by the Diktat, the sector became increasingly hermetic during
the Empire's rule.
Fourteen years after the Battle of Endor, the Sacorrian Triad attempted
to use the Starbuster
weapon to bully the New Republic into recognizing the Corellian sector
as and independent
state. Duro sits at the edge of the sector, though it is not considered
and Outlier system.

The Colonies
The first Old Republic explorers and settlers to
leave the Core Worlds colonized this
adjacent region, which they named the Colonies. Over the millennia
many of these planets
became just as industrialized and wealthy as their old world counterparts,
though the
antiquated term "Colonies" has stuck. The New Republic picked undeveloped
plantes in the
Colonies region to use as stepping-stones for its first Core Worlds
invasion.

-Balmorra
-Borleias (Blackmoon)

Tapani Sector
The Tapani sector is located
in the Colonies, but by tradition it is considered a respected
part of the Core Worlds community. Elite and ancient noble houses rule
much of the though
border planets called the Freeworlds are slowly encroaching on house-held
territory.
-Fondow
-Mrisst
Inner Rim Planets
The diverse region features many agricultural and
industrial powerhouses. The Inner Rim was
finally freed by the New Republic five years after the Battle of Endor-just
in time for Grand
Admiral Thrawn to sweep in and recapture the territoy. Though Thrawn
was defeated, many
Inner Rim planets resent the New Republic for its failure to pretect
them.

Hapes Consortium
A fabulously wealthy cluster
of sixty-three inhabited planets, the Hapes Consortium has become
synonymous with fierce protectionism and zealously guarded borders.
Though very few had ever seen
the cluster's worlds, rumors abounded of astounding treasures such
as rainbow gems, wisdom trees,
and mind conrtolling weaponry. Left largely to its own devices during
Emperor Palpatine's reing, the
Consortium broke it's millennia-long isolation when the Hapan Queen
Mother unexpectedly contaced
Princess Leia Organa of the New Republic.
-Hapes
Expansion Region
The Expansion Region began as an experiment in corporate
controlled space-wealthy conglomerates
were allowed to profit from the area's planets as they saw fit. Eventually
the ruling companies moved
on to exploit the Corporate Sector. The Expansion Region is still a
producer of raw materials and ores,
though many of its resources have been exhausted.

Centrality
The Centrality is an old-fashioned, regressive corner
of space known for the Oseon casions and the
life-crystals of the Rafa system. The Centrality swore allegiance to
Palpatine soon after the Empire's
foundation. It's puppet government was allowed a certain degree of
autonomy, thought it was mostly
because Imperial forces had little interest in directly controlling
the trivial region.
-Rafa V
Mid Rim
With a smaller population and fewer natural resources
than many other regions, the Mid Rim is a
territory where residents work hard for what they have. Several planets
have built up impressive
economies, while pirate raiding fleets often hide in the unexplored
space far from the trade lanes.

Hutt Space
A lawless expanse near the Outer Rim Territories,
Hutt Space is controlled by the most corrupt
and powerful Hutt clans. The region is infamous throughout the galaxy
for its widespread smuggling,
piracy, and open criminal activity. Imperial authorities largely left
the Hutts to their own devices, in
part because many influential citizens (including Black Sun's Prine
Xizor) had a covert stake in their
illegal commerce.

Tion Hegemony
Once the seat of power for pre-Republic conqueror
Xim the Despot, the Tion Hegemony is now
a crumbling backwater whose glory days are long past. It sits in an
undistinguished area bordered by
the Cronese Mandate and the Allied Tion
-Dellalt
Meridian Sector
The Meridian sector is a lightly
populated region near the Outer Rim Territories. The New Republic
has several bases in the sector, but most of the planets remain neutral
despite the close proximty to the
Imperiality held Antemeridian sector. Nine years after the Battle of
Endor a devastating outbreak of the
Death Seed plague raced across three-quarters of the sector and killed
millions.

-Nim Drovis
Outer Rim Territories
The Outer Rim is the last widely settled expanse
before one reaches Wild Space and the Unknown
Regions. An incredibly vast region of space, it is strewn with obscure
alien homeworlds and rugged,
primitive fronties planets. As a result of its distance from the Core,
the area was a hotbed of support
for the Rebel Alliance. Grand Moff Tarkin was given the formidable
task of bringing the Outer Rim into
line.

Corporate Sector
Located at the wispy edge of one galactic arm, the
corporate sector is a free-enterprize fief that contains
no native intelligent species. Despite it's considerable distance from
the Core Worlds, the sector is easy to
get to, thanks to several well-established hyperspace routes. The ruthless
Corporate Sector Authority (CSA)
was given free hand in governing its territory by the Empire as long
as Emperor Palpatine received regular
kickbacks. The CSA was interested in profit, not ideology, and commonly
sold weapons to both side during
the frequent Imperial-New Republic skirmishes.

Wild Space
The frontier of the galaxy, Wild Space is the ragged
fringe spearating civilization from the Unknown Regions.
Planets such as Almania lie so far from the galactic centers of power
that they are virtually ignored.
-Almania
-Pydyr
Unknown Regions
Even after twenty-five millenia of interstellar travel,
much of the galaxy remains unexplored. Scouting missions
were drastically curtailed during the height of the Empire, thought
Grand Admiral Thrawn spent several years
mapping portions of the Unknown Regions. Recent attacks by unfamiliar
foes such as the Ssi-ruuvi Imperium
have helped convince the New Republic that further exploration of this
area is a military necessity.
