Nebulon Ranger
Coruscant-Class Heavy Courier

The Nebulon Ranger was the courier ship of the Jedi Knight Ulic Qel-Droma, his brother Cay, and the Twi'lek Jedi Tott Doneeta. These famed Jedi Knights were key players in the Great Sith War, which occurred 4,000 years before the rise of the Empire and the collapse of the Old Republic.
The Nebulon Ranger was a large, multisectioned ship. The Ranger had two main series engine arrays mounted on a right-angle starframe. This design element provided an easy way to separate the engines and give the ship greater maneuverability without the need for bulky maneuvering jets.
The Ranger had retractable wings which could be extended fro atmospheric flight bu retracted for landing. The main wing was heavily armored and contained the ship's fuel tanks, which fed directly into the six AlderaanMotors power generators and engine arrays. The wing also held the Ranger's round air lock (for deep space docking) and a sensor array pylon. While the pylon was more easily damaged in combat, it gave the Ranger's sensors far greater range and sensitivity than could a unit flush with the hull.
The Ranger featured a series of eight shield generators, providing full protection around the hull. Because of thier immense power drain, the shields were raised only in combat. This made the Ranger vulnerable to attack, as the beast-riders of Onderon showed when they downed the Ranger with a single seeker torpedoe.
The Ranger packed a forward-firing pulse cannon with enough power to slice through the shields of any pirate ship. There was a retractable, rotating laser cannon on each wingtip as well as a more powerful rotating laser cannon at the base of the second engine array. Each forward mandible help a pair of linked proton-torpedo launchers, with a magazine of six torpedoes in each mandible. Each mandible also had a single short-ranged concussion-sphere launcher with a magazine of eight concussion missiles each. The laser cannons and missile weapons were controlled from a dedicated gunnery station in the cockpit, although the pilot could also choose to handle these weapons.
The cockpit was nestled between the forward mandibles and opened back to the living and cargo sections in the center of the ship. The main boarding ramp (bottom side) and emergency escape hatch (top side) were found in the "neck" behind the cockpit. Three escape pods were forward-mounted below the pulse cannon.
The Ranger had a cargo bay that was sectioned off into compartments with variable life support, gravity, and atmosphere controls. The modular wall sections could also be removed for larger cargoes, such as courier vehicles. A drop bay at the bottom of the ship (between the engines) allowed such vehicles to be deployed withing seconds. Ulic and Cay known to keep short-range airspeeders in the cargo bay to surprise attackers.
