Rheintochter R1

 

 

Rheintochter. 1942. Surface to Air (SAM)

Range: 20,000ft.

Warhead: 250lbs with proximity fuze.

Guidance: Radar controlled.

Propulsion: Rocket with boost motors assisted launch.

Control: aerodynamic through 4 moving nose controls.

 

On launcher.

The Rheintochter (Rhine daughter) was a two-stage 'Flak' rocket (anti-aircraft) launched from

an inclined ramp or mobile launcher. It was a dual radar guided weapon, one radar plot

tracking the target and the other radar plot guiding the weapon, both of the radar plots correlated by

a ground controller. The booster unit separated from the main missile about one mile from launch.
