Brown, who is planning an ingenious stunt later this year involving the game Russian Roulette and a member of the public, received the award from Bristols Venue Magazine for his great achievements in television this year. However, Derren was caught up in the excitement of the honour and whilst posing for a photograph decided it would be amusing to place the said object up his nose. Unfortunately the banana part of the award became stuck and he was unable to remove it.
Derren was then rushed to hospital and seen by Dr Crippen, a top ENT surgeon but all hopes of removal were dashed. Dr Crippen spoke to our reporter afterwards and explained that extraction of the object would be extremely dangerous and that Mr Brown could lead a happy and unhindered life with the item in place.
Mr Browns agent issued the following statement to the press today:
� Derren Brown has been involved this sad incident, however he is coping extremely well and feels 100% capable of continuing with his UK tour. In fact Derren has discovered many uses for the item including it being a great perch for Figaro his pet parrot and as an aid for his mind control techniques.�
