Port Nicholson Sportfishing Club Inc. General Information (July 2003- August 2004) The Port Nicholson Sportfishing Club is now one of New Zealand's Premier fishing clubs despite having been incorporated as recently as October 1989. The membership has grown steadily over the years and the Club continues to generate interest among anglers. The Port Nicholson Sportfishing Club is a family oriented "social" Fishing club with an emphasis on "non-competitive" activities where members can enjoy their sport. The Club is active in all aspects of fishing - saltwater, freshwater, shore or boat THE CLUB PROGRAM CONSISTS OF:- 1.Monthly Club nights which are aimed at both educational and informative as well as a venue for members to relax, socialise and chat about their sport 2.Outing days. We call them "Family Outing Days" where everyone is welcome. On these days members are encouraged to fish together with their families in one easy to get to location. A barbecue is usually incorporated into these events. These events are usually limited to shore fishing although at some locations boats are more than welcome. Outings are held on a designated Sunday 3.Club Competition weekends which are designed primarily for the "keen" angler. Though these events also give families an opportunity to get away for a weekend and fish together. The Points awarded and the rules have been designed to give any member experienced or not, a fair chance, Competitions run from 2pm Saturday till 3pm Sunday. The ferry terminal (near the reclamation) is the usual weigh in location. A barbecue is sometimes fired up at the weigh in to allow members the opportunity to relax and talk about the competition. 4.A monthly newsletter full of facts, figures and information 5.Regular outings are built into the Club calendar. These often travel to some of the more inaccessible local fishing spots and to some distant locations.
