So yesterday after work Sully and I head over to the Presidio, for the launch party of Revolution magazine. The email said that Dimitri from Paris was spinning, which we were very skeptical of since we hadn't heard of him spinning at any other party. But we were willing to check it out. After we park, we get into this shuttle bus which takes us to another part of the Presidio.
Unfortunately, we weren't on the guest list as VIP so we didn't get special wristbands which let us into the VIP section where they had free booze and food. We got a girl to smuggle chicken sticks out to us in exchange for a couple of Sully's cigarettes. But then Sully's friends show up and they tell us to say that we know Sean Evans, this local DJ, and that will get us VIP wristbands like they got.
So Sully saunters over and says something like "Sean Evans put us on this list...blah blah blah" and just that got us VIP wristbands! It was ridiculously easy. I didn't even have to say anything. He got a few free drinks, and I took some pictures with the mermaids. They had open bar for 6 hours--from 6 to midnight. Crazy.
The music was really really good. Stefan from Gus Gus spun a set and Dimitri from Paris really was there! They both spun fantastic sets. When Dimitri came on, Sully took a pill and mugged for the classic photo below (see third from right). Go-go dancers showed up...one of them is this girl Heather I know through Diane.
All in all, it was a fantastic night because it was completely unexpected how good it would be. There was plenty of eye candy, and everyone was really nice. I got to be all artsy with my photography, with the green lasers and different color lights. It made me realize how much I miss photography as my art form.
