| Duncan? called a young womans voice from the front of the dojo. Duncan came out of his office and entered the empty dojo to see a woman in her early twenties standing in the doorway. She had long, curly brown hair and pale, olive-toned skin. Her eyes were a dark amber color. She was beautiful, and seeing her made him smile.
Celeste, he said, walking toward her. She smiled brightly and hurried to embrace him. He hugged her back tightly before setting her back on her feet to get a better look at her face. What are you doing in Seacouver? Celeste shook her head, still smiling, and took a step back. Liam thought I could be of some use around here, and besides, I have you to keep me company now. I love Liam. Hes like a father to me, but he seems so old sometimes. Duncan laughed at that, heading for the elevator, and Celeste followed, joining him in his laughter. Well, he seems to lose his vitality, anyway. Sorry, Mac. Its fine, he replied, letting her into his apartment. She went to sit on the couch, while Duncan went to his refrigerator. He offered her a drink, but she declined. I had something before I came. She patted the spot next to her on the sofa, but he sat in the chair that was just as close. He took a sip of his water, and she watched him. It still bothered her a little that he never aged. He seemed just the same as he had when she was a young girl, but he was an Immortal so she couldnt be surprised. He had looked the same for several hundred years. She had to admit, though a little sadly, he was a very attractive man, even though he wasnt her type at all. She smiled when he caught her looking. If she hadnt gotten so used to him, she would have blushed, but as it was, almost nothing made her blush anymore. So, Mac began, youll be staying with Liam somewhere in the city? Celeste nodded. That should be interesting, he said with a smile. He stood up to put his bottle on the counter, when there was a knock on the door. He glanced over at Celeste, who shook her head and raised her hands in an innocent gesture. Duncan shrugged and went to answer it. Celeste craned her neck to see who was calling on Duncan, and she was surprised to see a slighter man with short brown hair and brown eyes simply walk past him and enter the apartment, a bag in each hand. She had to remind herself to breathe for a moment. He was definitely more her type. She heard his odd, almost British accent as he explained. Hey, MacLeod, Ill need to stay with you for a few days, the man said. He set his bags down and kept looking at Duncan, who was still standing at the door. Im having my apartment remodeled, and I dont want to stay in a hotel that I shouldnt His voice trailed off as he turned to see Celeste sitting on the couch and watching him. She was smiling charmingly. Be able to afford, Methos finished quietly. Whos this? His voice was surprised and a little shy sounding. That, Duncan said, is Celeste Harrison, a friend of mine. He grabbed a beer from the fridge for his friend and handed it to him. I knew her mother. Methos took a slug of it before he offered his hand to the young woman. Im Adam Pierson. Charmed, Celeste replied, shaking his hand. She stared into his eyes for what seemed like hours, and she couldnt help but notice that he stared back or that he was still holding her hand. She took it back, blushing slightly, and stood. Well, Im sure youd like to get settled in here, and Liam must be waiting for me at home. She went to Duncan and smiled up at him, hugging him tightly. Ill see you later, Mac. Maybe we could go to Joes tonight? Duncan smiled and hugged her back. Ill meet you there. Is Liam going to want to join us? I dont know, she said, shrugging. Ill have to ask him. Do you mind if I bring a couple friends along? Duncan rolled his eyes, looking up to the ceiling. Theyre mature. I promise. Theyre friends of mine fromwork. She glanced over at Adam, but had to look away quickly, as he was watching her with a slight smile. She kissed Duncans cheek and got into the elevator. Ill see you tonight, Mac. See you, Celeste, Duncan said. He closed the gate and watched her leave. So, MacLeod, asked a smug voice behind him. Duncan turned to see Methos with his feet up on the couch, where he was lounging comfortably and drinking his beer. How long have you known Celeste? Duncan grabbed his water from the counter and joined Adam. For most of her life, he replied. I knew her mother before she adopted her. Does she know shes one of us? Methos asked. Not a clue, and I never plan on telling her. She has enough on her mind since her mothers death and her work Duncan was cut off. What does she do? Methos asked, taking another slug of his beer. Too much, if you ask me, Duncan said. He stood up and grabbed one of Methos bags. Ill put your things over here. You can sleep on the couch. Methos sighed, realizing the topic of Celeste was closed. He nodded and leaned back on the sofa, resting the back of his head on his arm. Am I allowed to go along tonight? I was planning on going to Joes anyway. I cant stop you. Exactly. Methos smirked before setting his half-empty beer bottle on the coffee table and closing his eyes. |
