Portia began her harp career at age 9 and has been actively performing in the Bay Area ever since. Her experiences in performing started with the "Fantastic Five Harpers" and grew to large audiences in places throughout Norther California with the "Bay Area Youth Harp Ensemble" where she became a soloist as well as a composer and arranger of ensemble music.
Portia now actively freelances throughout the Bay Area. As a soloist, she performs regularly at the San Francisco Movement Studio, Chaparral House (nursing home), and for various other venues throughout the San Franisco Bay Area (see Performances). She is a member of the "Pleiades Ensemble," an exciting harp quartet of young women who like to play lively, rhythmic music on the harp, including original arrangments of traditional Latin, Celtic, Jazz, Classical and original compositions. She is also a member of the Celtic harp trio "Triskela" with Diana Stork and Shawna Spiteri. Triskela has performed Nationally at places such as the 2005 HarpCon International Harp Conference in Montana and in California at the Dorothy Spreckles Performing Arts Center in Rohnert Park. They recently released their long-awaited debut CD "Voice of Tara."
Portia loves to play harp music for weddings, special events, teas, and at cafes, retirement centers, and conferneces.
