As far as I know, William Bennett is not related to me, but I have information on him, so I will post it here. He was born before 1760, place unknown, but at one time he was in Mecklenberg, NC. A letter from a descendant states: "William Bennett lived in Mecklenbert County, NC. He married twice and had a son by each wife, William Bennett by the first wife about 1779; John by the second wife, about 1805."
William David Bennett, son of William above, was born about 1790 in NC. He married Nora Ford and died in 1867. Another source gives his date of birth as 1792, and states that he left home at the age of 15 years because of the remarriage of his father; settled in Mississippi; married Nora Ford, widow of (?) King.
James C. Bennett, son of William David Bennett above, was born about 1814 in SC. He married Nancy Rowland on 2 September 1841 in Carroll County, Mississippi. James C. Bennett apparently died sometime between 1853-1860. Nancy Rowland was born about 1826 in NC, the daughter of David Alexander Rowland. James C. Bennett and Nancy Rowland had the following children:
- Elizabeth Jane "Jennie" Bennett born 9 May 1843, Vaiden, MS; another source gives her name as Virginia Elizabeth; married Daniel Taylor Oldham 19 Jan 1862 in Montgomery County, MS; died 19 Aug 1920 in Dallas, TX.
- William David Bennett born 22 June 1846, Vaiden, MS; married Lettie Townsend; died in Webster Co., MS (I dont' have the date.) He was a private in Capt. Samuel Bains' Co. of Mississippi Volunteers, Light Artillery; taken prisoner; paroled at Vicksburg July 4, 1863; buried in Bluff Springs Cemetery, Webster County, MS; he and Lettie had ten children.
- Sarah R. Bennett born about 1849, MS; name also given as Sallie; married first Asias Townsend; married second Mark Herring; one daughter
- Mary Margaret Bennett born about 1851, MS; name also given as Mollie; married Zera Newton Oldham; see below for their children.
- John James Bennett born 6 March 1853, MS; married first Nancy Jenkins; married second Mrs. Nancy Anna Cappleran; died 8 Jan 1927 in Stephenville, Erath Co., TX; one source says he had four sons; another says five sons; left home at age 17 and went to Hill County, TX; children whose names I have: James Allen Bennett, William David Bennett, Frank Bennett, John Crintington Bennett
Mary Margaret "Mollie" Bennett (above) was born about 1851 in MS; married Zera Newton Oldham (son of Zera Oldham); had the following children:

- John Bennett "Captain" Oldham was born 7 Nov 1878 in Montgomery Co., MS; married first Lucy Clair Wynne; married second Minnie Skelton; married third Mrs. Lou Drowns; died 21 June 1953; buried Scotland Baptist Church Cemetery, Winona, MS.
- Jesse Walter Oldham married Hattie Stafford on March 29, 1908 in Montgomery County, MS
- Benjamin Oldham died in infancy
