Sources say the plans are a compromise for the couple. Jerry, 45, wanted a quickie ceremony, but Jessica had her heart set on a gala wedding with all the trimmings -- even though she had one just last year to Broadway theater heir Eric Nederlander. "Jerry finally convinced Jessica a big wedding would be inappropriate since she just had one -- and Jerry was the reason that marriage broke up after just four months," says a source. "So it's going to be very private and tasteful. But then they'll definitely make up for it on the honeymoon." The 28 year old bride to be, a publicist for fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger, was thrilled when her boss offered his mansion in Italy as a wedding site. The idea would be for the lovebirds to make things official at a civil ceremony in Manhattan, and then toss a blowout bash at the romantic villa in Rome. But the longtime bachelor couldn't be persuaded. The comedian and the pretty brunette will exchange vows before the end of the year with just their families in attendance -- and then jet to europe, where they'll drive through Germany, Italy, France and England in a brand-new Porsche. "The trip is Jerry's idea of a dream honeymoon," says a source. "Porsche is the only kind of car he drives -- he has nearly 30 of them. "He's thrilled Jessica shares his interest in cars, and he's buying her a Porsche as one of her wedding gifts. They paln to pick it up at the factory in Germany. And then its off to see the sights, with first class hotes all the way." The newlyweds plan to end up in London after a trip on the Channel Tunnel train, which connects France and England. "Jerry's wanted to travel through the Chunnel for some time," says the source. "He's really looking forward to it." The Porsche isn't the only expensive gift Jerry is lavishin on his new finacee. He presented Jessica -- who flipped for him just three weeks after she married Nederlander -- with a $165,000 engagement ring from Tiffany. |
