Jacquie and Benny

Jacquie and Benny

Jacquie and Benny were neighbors and became extremely good friends and soul mates. Benny is in his 2nd year of law school. They wrote words and music for songs that they recorded. He attempted several times over the past few years to write a song for Jacquie. Some of the songs were about their friendship, some about Jacquie, and in the last year of her life, he tried to write one about her daily struggle with Porphyria, none of which seemed good enough to him.

Benny wrote the following song for Jacquie and sang it at her funeral.

"NEVER SAY GOODBYE (JACQUIE'S SONG)"

Yellow rooms and burning hills
The washes of memories through my heart
I'll never say goodbye
'Cause someday I'll join you where you are.

Sharing songs and holding hands
The echoes resounding in my heart
I'll never say goodbye
'Cause someday I'll join you where you are.

You were the love of my life
And you loved me like no one ever will
I refuse to let go of you now
So the memories are who I am, and who I will be.

Deep blue eyes and golden hair
The visions reflecting in my mind
I used to love to make you laugh
Jacquie, dear, if only we had more time.

Promises and open arms
And a love that goes far beyond this world
But I'm gonna miss you, dear.

A sweet caress, a knowing glance
Your touches that carved upon my heart
But I'll never say goodbye
And someday I'll join you where you are.

You dreamed for all the ones you loved
Your dreams will survive within our hearts
And we'll never say goodbye
'Cause someday we'll join you where you are.

Written by Benny King - In the wee hours of May 28, 1997,
after returning home from the hospital where Jacquie passed away.
