| or, eat me, Lars Ulrich!! |
| I'm a music lover. Sure, I don't play any instruments, and I can't carry a tune in a water glass, but I love music anyway. Rare is the day when I'm not listening to music at work, or while I'm surfing the net at home. Preferably as loud as possible--I already suffered mild hearing loss from chronic ear infections as a child, so what's a few extra decibels gonna hurt? If it were up to me, I'd have a music library to rival that of an MTV VJ. Alas, though I may be a music lover, I'm also an incredibly cheap bitch as well. I've had this long standing rule where I don't buy a CD unless I've heard at least three songs off of it first. Singles helped with this for a while, until I noticed that the songs I liked were becoming harder and harder to find as a single--that is, unless I wanted the 12 remix super-sampler of 'Genie in a Bottle'. So, for a while I had to make do with hoping that they'd play my songs on the radio, or stay up until 2:30 in the morning, when MTV would actually play music. Then, Napster came along. I was actually a latecomer to the Napster train, not really getting involved in it until the whole nasty business with Metallica started. Then, once I downloaded and realized what a miraculous invention it was, collecting music became a new obsession for me. I said to myself, "This is why I pay $40 a month for cable internet service!", and proceeded to download over 200 songs I've been coveting in less than two months. But now, the party's over. The money grubbing powers that be have determined that their finances are being compromised by the average Joe schmucks like me who are "stealing" their music, and have ordered my beloved Napster shut down. I knew it was too good to be true, as is most "free" stuff. Since you know darn well someone will quickly come up with a way to hack through the "copyright guard" the music biz moochers want Napster to use, I expect to be back trading songs again very soon. When that happens, I invite you to steal, steal, STEAL all the songs listed below from me--hey, it's better than paying $18 for one CD, right? VIVA LA REVOLUTION! UPDATE: Jump ship from Napster and take a ride on the Audio Galaxy train. Look for me on file as 'Porcelain72'. |
