DRAGONS SEEM HEADED TOWARDS RELEGATION
Loss against Pirates, coupled with upset by Crusaders, puts Dragons 5 points back with three games remaining.

While fans of the Pirates rejoice with their crushing victory over the Dragons, Locke Harbour fans can only shake their heads in wonderment.  In the first year that teams will be relegated, the only city with two rugby squads, seems headed to have them both relegated.

Locke Harbour South already knows their fate in fact.  With the loss by the Blues today, coupled with the win by the Magna Carta Crusaders, the Locke Harbour Blues become the first team to ever be relegated in PopularFreedom rugby history.  As early as two weeks today, the Dragons may also be facing that absolute result as well.

Though one can understand the reason why the Blues were unable to compete this season, the Dragons are a far different story.  Coming off an impressive IRL championship in the off-season, the new look Dragons seemed ready to spring into action and take their rightful place among the playoff contenders come the end of the season.  Unfortunately however, they faced mounting injuries and players who ever when playing were not 100%.

Now they can only look back upon the worst season in Dragons history and plan for the future.  Die-hard Dragon fans will tell you that their season is not over yet, however with three games remaining in the regular season, the Dragons need to win basically all their games and hope that one of the teams they are pursuing has a complete meltdown.

Some will argue that the Magna Carta Crusaders are untested and therefore most probable to falter at the end, however their impressive victory over a Viscount Bennett squad fighting for a playoff spot proved that they are as tenacious as the rest of the teams in the league.  Furthermore, which their next match against the basement dwelling Locke Harbour Blues, it is relatively safe to say that they should be able to earn at least 4 points next week.

Beyond that team you have the Peace Warriors, and the Workers Point Bobcats, however both of these teams will be fighting for their playoff lives so it is doubtful they will falter easy.

Finally one need to look at the Locke Harbour schedule to know they are done.  Their final games are against the Lenita Legions, Stanislav Lions, and the Workers Point Bobcats.  Only the Bobcats are a team that the Dragons, based on their play this season, have a chance of even competing with let alone beating.  Though the Dragons may luck out and find the Legions or the Lions starting their backups, even that probability does not mean victory.

The Dragons need to focus on preparing now for next season, since unless they have some miraculous upsurge, they will be relegated at seasons end.
